Latest Update on Gladiola Pictures
I have now finished Page 4 of 5 on the last picture and I'm heading for the finish line. It seems like this one is taking longer but maybe that's just because I'm anxious to finish and it is the fourth one!

The ladybugs are both on their little stem, Texas Stitcher - since you asked. I wondered why they were added but they are the only bit of red in that whole page of green and I'm guessing that's why.

I enjoy Chit Chat so much. Keep helping each other and may all your problems be answered.

Miss Seniorstitcher

Which gladiolus are you talking about. I know of 2 that all. Can you please tell me who is the designer?
Many thanks.

Good work Senior Stitcher. You are now past the half way mark on this one. Keep us informed. It sounds like you should be good to go for a Christmas deadline as long as you have a framer on the ready for you. Congratulations on your accomplishments so far and I'm pulling for you. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!

Miss C, this started months ago, but you should remember. Senior Stitcher had a kit & a dream to stitch the Glad for each of her 4 children. She's on the home stretch of her goal now. We have been cheering for her.

Keep going, Senior Stitcher! You can make it! The goal is in sight now and we are all excited!

miss crossstitch: The Gladiola pattern is Item #298921. The designer is Thea Gouverneur and I purchased it from Craft-e-Corner.

lbcatlovr001: I do expect the stitching to be finished by Christmas but the framing may be another story as Christmas is a busy time for her. However, since she has framed the other three, maybe she'll fit the 4th one in for me. I don't think I'll be seeing the daughter from MO at Christmastime so if the framing isn't done on the last one, it won't matter too much. The trouble is, she'll hear about it from the other three before she gets to have it! Would really like to surprise all of them at once!

jlhewes and Su Pitt: Thanks for the cheers - it's always nice to have a cheering section. I'm still spending 3-4 hours every evening on the last Gladiola. I'm amazed that I haven't gotten burned out doing the same picture over and over but I haven't. I am getting antsy to start on something else, however. I have a granddaughter getting married in August and I'll be making a Wedding Sampler for her - and then there's the County Fair in August too. I'd love to enter one of the Gladiola pictures at the Fair but there isn't any security in the building and it would be a disaster if it was stolen (and I'd have to make a 5th one to replace it!) Uff da!

Oh Sr. Stitcher: I'm so excited for you! Please don't forgot to post a pic of the framed glad on our website. If you need the info, let me know and I will post it again. Congrats.

Hi Senior Stitcher:

You have made so much dedicated progress on your project and it would be so nice for you to have all your glads framed and ready for your 4 children for Christmas, but like you said it is a very busy time of year for a framer and that was why I had mentioned it in my last post just in case you hadn't considered this since we're into December now.

I saw you had mentioned entering one of your glads in the county fair. Please think twice if you do. I am in a small town and several years ago a handmade quilt worth thousands (and you can imagine the amount of work involved) was stolen from the county fair site. What kind of horrible, inconsiderate person would do this, but since then I have considered and refrained from entering my hard work into the fair. Even if the item is found, it could be permanently damaged from handling or soiled, so sad.

lbcatlovr001: Your story about the quilt is exactly why I can't leave one of the pictures at the fair when there is no security. I did take the first Gladiola picture along when I entered the other two last August - just to show the ladies at the entry desk (the same ones are there each year). They were impressed and one of them even called a couple more ladies over to see it. They wanted me to enter it but I told them I couldn't since there was no security in the building. They sounded like they were going to bring that up to the people in charge so maybe that will change. There was a huge, unbelievably beautiful quilt entered last fall that could have disappeared (but thankfully didn't). They put it on the wall so it would have been more difficult to reach - but not impossible. A couple years ago, I was in the building, checking on my pictures, when the woman next to me suddenly took one of my pictures off the wall to look at it more closely and she made some comment to me about it, not knowing it was mine. I was thinking to myself that if she dropped it, I was going to commit murder right there! I reported the incident to those ladies at the desk and since that year, the pictures have been inside cases with glass fronts. However, I don't think they're locked and a 48" Gladiola picture wouldn't fit in there. Guess they weren't expecting anything that large.
