I've tried using google but does not give me any hints. I can only find places to purchase. Does anyone else know?

It looks like some sort of ornamental something or other. Like the other stitchers stated maybe a bow or feather. Have you stitched this pattern already? Did you notice it when you bought it? Maybe you could stitch something similar on the other ankle? Or, like jl, said you'll have to live with it. Sorry.

Thanks so much for everyone's help. I ended up unpicking the black and making it the same as the other side. I think it turned out okay. I would love to show a photo - is there any way of doing it in this forum?

Yes, you can post a picture. It would be great to see your completed project.
Start a new chat post. You will see the button to attach a picture to the post.
When you press that button, a file open window will allow you to select the picture from your compter.
