Jack Russell
I want to make this bigger than in the pattern. If I used 14 count what would the finished size be? Thanks in advance for your help.

This would be 5.46" x 3.85" on 14 count.

To figure this out you just take the number of inches of the finished design here 4.25" x 3.0" and multiply each by 18 for the 18 count fabric, this gives you the stitch count. Then take the stitch count and divide by 14 for the 14 count fabric.

You would have to save the 18 ct for another time. Also, add to the Anchor floss.

Also keep in mind the dimensions above are the design size only. You should always add 6" to each dimension to allow for mounting and framing which is the normal rule of thumb, so rounding it up your fabric should be no smaller than 12.0" x 10.0". Also JL is correct, since this is a kit, your threads are calculated for stitching an 18 count project and you will using more thread on 14 count, so you may need to purchase more matching thread to change out your fabric.

Oh! I see what you mean - unless it's totally straightforward I'm a bit "brain dead" when it comes to working out things. Thank you so much!

Since you're thinking of changing the kit, check out www.thefind.com/crafts

I was Google searching the string: jack russell cross stitch patterns. This site said they had a lot.

I would look for just a pattern for the Jack Russell since you want to change the size and would need more Anchor floss. I don't like Anchor floss so I would also change to DMC floss. There are several Jack Russell patterns on this website here under dog patterns.

Thank you everyone so much for all your help. I actually didn't notice that it was Anchor floss! I've looked at the other websites and there are many kits and patterns for Jack Russell dogs. I was trying to get one that matched closely to my friends dog who is quite old now, and it was the Anchor one that was the best likeness. So plenty to think about before I go ahead with an order.

If you're really sold on this one for likeness to your friend's dog, you can always change out the floss to DMC. I have done it myself with kits for fabric and floss like you're considering, but it just seems like a waste to pay so much for a kit solely for the chart. There's a conversion list at cyberstitchers.com to do Anchor to DMC floss if this is what you decide. I always double check the suggested match against the kit floss and my DMC color card to make sure the match is close enough since it is never perfect---sometimes I find a better match myself. Good Luck!!!

Anchor floss is really good. A few don't like it, many don't like higher price and fewer colors. If they give the Anchor numbers, you'll be able to replacenust shat you need, not all the. Colors.
