Level of difficulty
What is the level of difficulty of this pattern. I am not a beginner but would in no way classify myself as advanced. This would be my fourth project and the largest to date.

I, personally, would consider this quite difficult due to the fact that it is large, 100% stitching coverage and 84 colors.

On the other hand, I really like this pattern a lot. You might consider purchasing a soft color or over-dyed fabric and just stitch the actual picture -- not the background. I have never worked with overdyed. You would cut the stiching down a lot. I am sure that it would be beautiful.

I agree with Nancy that this is a difficult pattern. If you consider doing an hand-dyed fabric for the background you might want to look at some of the hand-dyed fabric from Picture This Plus that has many different hand-dyed fabric colors and sizes to choose from. I used a hand-dyed background on a pattern called "New Snow" and it came out very well.
