Floss Colors
I just ordered and received this pattern and am looking forward to working on it, but the floss colors are not specific. I thought they would all be in DMC colors, which are easy to find. These appear to use Anchor and Gentle Art and Crescent? I'm not familiar with the last two at all. Can these be substituted with DMC colors?

They carry those brands ar ECS. This type of pattern usually looks better with the hand-dyes. I believe Crescent isn't colorfast, so you may want to look for similiar Gentle Arts or Weeks Dye Works.

I think there is a button pack that goes with this design as well from "Just another button" company

Thanks so much for your quick response! I didn't realize it would be available here on EVS - I should have known though, they have everything, don't they?! LOVE this site! I did find all the colors here and the order's been placed. Thanks again for your help!

To Bermuda: Thank you for mentioning the button packet. I read it at the bottom of the list of floss colors, but I wasn't sure what it meant. After I read your response, I went to the Just Another Button Company site and found it. These will look so cute and will add some interesting detail to this piece when it's done. Thanks again!

Gentle Arts says they are colorfast, but they require rinsing over and over in hot water until they don't bleed onto a white towel, so this old stitcher can't call them colorfast! It wastes a whole day of prep time, therefore one day stitching is gone! I stick to DMC and Weeks Dye Works, which are truly colorfast. You can wash your project in cool water, NOT WOOLITE, but either Dawn dish washing liquid or Orvus (amazon carries) or Restoration (amazon). God .u know with the prep work.

Thank you for the heads-up, Su Pitt. I'll be sure and rinse it until it's ready to go. I've been spoiled by using DMC, I guess!

The colorfastness is one of the reasons I only use DMC floss for my projects. If another floss is listed I just get my Cyberstitchers.com floss conversion charts out and convert it to DMC. I also wash my completed projects in my washing machine on gentle cycle with warm water using Purex and have never had a one of them bleed or fade in all my years.

hintzer, you will love the buttons from Another Bottom Company. I received mine last week fro another project and they are adorable. It's a small Autumn motif, it should be finished in another day or so. I can hardly wait to sew all the little embellishments on.

To jlhewes: You were so right - I am so glad I went with the suggested floss and colors. These hand-dyed threads really make this picture! Gives it shading and depth that I would never have with the DMC threads. It's turning out beautiful!
