Fabric Color Suggestions?
Hi, I am loving this design. Do you have any fabric color suggestions? There will be much white so stitching on white would be a little silly. I'm contemplating 16 or 18- count. What colors should/could I consider that would reduce the eye strain? Thank you!

I would suggest an "antique white" as a possible fabric color, it has enough of an off-white color from the pure white you will using to reduce eye strain. You also might want to look at your DMC floss "Ecru" as a color for a fabric.

Thank you. I will investigate antique white and ecru. I was thinking about this further and wondering if a gray-ish tone would work too. Maybe.

I don't see why gray wouldn't work. Just so the FABRIC color doesn't show through when you are stitching the white snow. I CAN see your point of eyestrain, doing white-on-white. I have a couple of patterns in my stash that has lots of white snow in it; good idea about a light grey fabric!

Will you be stitching the whole picture...will any of the fabric show when you are finished?

Hi, Cory,
If I am good -- make the appropriate number of strands for the stitch-count of the fabric -- nothing will show through. I will be covering the entire fabric. For 16-count, that means 2 strands, full cross, over one. The same for 18-count, I think. Anyone think differently? I am doing a large project now that is 2 strands, full cross, over one and it is covering pretty darn well. I'm leaning toward the 18-count at the moment. Thanks!

I agree with you two. Light grey or silver.

I always use "Antique White" Laguna 25 count for large pictures like this. There are many colors in this fabric. You might take a look at the color chart.

I imagine one must purchase this design before one can see the color chart. It's not like Heaven and Earth Designs where you can go to their website and see the floss chart (as they call it) before purchase.

Before you buy colored cloth, are you sure the white snow is not just left blank, letting the cloth be the white stitches? Otherwise you would have to do the entire background

Yes, this design is stitched all over, including what could be seen as background. It is a Mystic Stitch pattern and that's just how they are. I'm perverse enough to do this. :))
