Kits
Just curious because I have noticed the descriptions of some projects don't always tell you what is included. Can I always assume a kit will have everything needed including thread to complete the project?

Hello,

Unless it's stated that it doesn't include something, everything should be included in a manufactured kit :) Thank you!

Just a note to let you know that many people on this chat room have stated that many of the kits by Dimensions Inc. do not have enough floss included. They find this out when they do the stitching.

Description says Project size is 15-1/2 x 16 - 1/2
Hope that includes the wiggle room on the sides

Sometimes pattern descriptions say that the stitching area is a certain size without allowing for the extra 3" on each side needed for framing or finishing or being off center.

Hope this post does not confuse anyone

I always thought a kit measurement did not include extra fabric for framing?

Darlene -- that's what I thought until a recent experience at Joann's. As I quickly browsed thru the limited cross-stitch section a woman asked my opinion on a pattern she liked. As I looked at the description I immediately caught that the measurement for the stitched area was given. It was not the size fabric she needed to buy. I guess that is why we keep telling each other to add three inches on each side. I would assume that a kit would include enough fabric but it might be skimpy.

my error.. I thought "kits" because they supply fabric, included extra fabric for top & sides.. maybe only extra 2" each side.. maybe why some are "skimpy"
I have started adding 3" each side, mostly because stitchers on this site think its best, but when I learned I was told add 2"..

guess I have been lucky..

I believe Vickery is new to kits. Michael seems like a very precise guy, so it'll be interesting to hear opinions. Good, unless proven bad.
