11count aida
Just have to share my experience. Xstitched few yrs ago, then quit, took it up again &just love it, but I was struggling with my stitches, so didn't seem so fun, then I decide to try 11count on my patterns, had to re-calculate patterns, but don't care because FUN again. Now can do charts I've been putting back, so if having trouble, try a smaller count, needles even better to use, as they say, happy stitching👏😍🎉

No kidding! I used to use 36 or 40 count linens, but...age comes to us all. Now I can see just 16 count, which I love and 14 count, which I use for projects that I want to be bigger. Sometmes, I start to get upset with myself...then I remember that this is a hobby. Nobody ever died from a frogging incident!
OK, that I know of...

Some projects have died from frogging, if the frogger isn't careful enough & damages the fabric too much to fix. Like me!

I almost always use 14 count fabric as it's fairly universal. But, lately I've been wanting to try 18-22 counts as details would be fanTABulous!!!

Course then there's my failing eyesight. Don't t it will be to many more years till I can see at all! Not blind as in seeing only blackness, but in all I can see is an extremely fuzzy world.

So, anyway........
