stamped cross stitch
Am I assuming that Happy Quilting is COUNTED xstitch? It seems as though there are very few stamped patterns (like samplers). These patterns are all lovely, but I cannot work Counted xstitch! What happened to the lovely linen stamped patterns? Are there any?

I used to do stamped cross stitch. I thought counted was only for the smart, expert stitchers, and I was afraid to give it a try. But when I retired three years ago, I went to our new Hobby Lobby to look over their embroidery section. They had a simple counted cross stitch bookmark that I liked, so I thought I'd give it a try. It was easy; I got hooked; and now, working on my 25th counted project, I don't think I will ever go back to stamped cross stitch. To me, counted looks so much nicer, has hundreds of projects I'd love to buy, and I love seeing a picture appear from a blank piece of material.

I know you like stamped, and there is not as much to pick from, but maybe you might like counted if you give it a try. I love that picture you were looking at. My only problem with counted is not having enough time to do everything I like. :-) Adele

This is a counted cross stitch pattern. Sue Hillis designs are fun to stitch and not difficult.

Most designs are not suitable for stamping. Tablecloths, or quilt squares, work. The designer Jack Dempsey does all stamped, as far as I've noticed.

Arottenbucher if counted cross stitch was for experts or very smart people I would be "up a creek without a paddle". LOL

Camilla_dcm there are just not enough really pretty patterns that can be done on stamped fabric. If you start out with a small beginner project I know you will do fine. I have so many projects lined up that I will have to live to be 120 to finish them all. I also do quilting so it is a good thing I am retired.
