Bifocal glasses
Have any of you ever used those clipon magnifying glasses with your Eye glasses. I was told they would. I have bifocals with verilux lenses. I just cannot see the holes in 18ct. I have just converted my current project from 18ct to 14ct.
Thanks

I use the flip-up magnifiers all the time...I have 2.0 which I use with my regular readers and 4.0 which I use with sunglasses (looks weird...I don't care, it works). :)

Thanks...I have a hand held magnifying glass and a hand held hoop. I have developed a wacky way of holding both the magnifying glass and hoop in my left hand. It's a pain in the behind...to say the least! I have been dropping hints whenever I can. I want. an Ott Light floor lamp with the magnifier attached.

I have those clip on magnifying glasses, clipped on to a pair of my progressive lenses, so I'm looking through them through the reading part of my glasses. They may look goofy, but I can see and don't get eye fatigued.

I bought them when I did an 18 ct on black Aida. Never doing black material again! I couldn't stitch in the evenings and only on sunny afternoons. I would have switched to 14 ct, but then the picture would have been bigger than I wanted. It was a gift for a friend.

Now I use the magnifiers on all the stitching I do, rather than my regular reading glasses. I tried to explain to my eye doctor that I get eye strain, but he said my perscription was just fine. So I decided to look goofy, and now I even use them reading finer print books. My husband checks out the large print books from the library, but with my Kindle, I can enlarge the print. It's tough getting old ;-)

So far these "old eyes" have been lucky. I have no line bifocals and they are enough for me to see to stitch on any size fabric I use. I haven't had to get a magnifier yet. I keep my fingers crossed and so far so good.

I use these "cheaters" when I'm working on linen. I can see fine on 18-count canvas, but linen gives me crossed-eyes! I love them, and I wear regular by-focals. I've loaned them to my husband to do close work repairing soldered items, too, but I demand their return! (p.s. He thought they were great! But he didn't give me extra allowance money to buy him any!!!!:() I don't feel funky when working with them.... many friends use various magnifiers....the viser-looking ones, the sit-on-the-table ones, the clip-on-the-frame ones. You've just got to do what feels best for you! Hey, if one of my friends called me out on it, I'd pull the old...I remember when you... card out of my pocket! Just stitch strong and stitch long!

I guess I'm going to have take a piece of aida cloth and my chart and go try on some cheaters. My bifocals are progressive lenses.

That sounds the best... try them out at the store. Your LNS would be glad to help you. These come in different strengths, too, for different tasks. Even Hobby Lobby and Michaels sell them, and the packages aren't usually sealed.

Don't laugh, but one friend bought regular reading glasses at the drug store and uses them over her glasses... whatever works for you is best.

There's a set I have my eyes on. It's by the Daylight Company. It's called the StarMag Naturalight Clip-On Spectacle Magnifiers. It comes with several strengths of lenses. I didn't see it on this site, but they may be able to special order it for you. I've seen it on Nordic Needle, but if you do a lot of orders through this site, give customer service a holler.

Stitch on!!!!
