HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY !!!
We are not travelling this year. Our daughter has invited the "clan" as we call it to her house for a picnic. What are all of you doing??? If you travel, please be safe. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you in the Midwest who are having so much rough weather. We have had more than our average amount of rain. I can't imagine what you are going through. The traffic is already building unbelievably with folks making their way from Pennsylvania to the Jersey shore! Carol

I live in NoCo. We're not going anywhere this weekend.... have irrigation to do! We'll probably leave mid-seek to go down to AZ to do work on our house down there to get it ready to sell. YUK!!!!

Ya'all have a safe holiday and remember the reason, too. I'm going to get my 48-star flag up if hubby will do it. It's 8' x 13', old woolen sewn flag. Love it!!!

Blessings! -barb

momcat, I will keep you in my prayers for "smooth sailing" with all of this. These are trying times, but yours truly has "Old Glory" flying out front.

Staying home. Flying the flag high. Might wander into the Old Town area where there is music, food, artists and craft booths. Big fireworks show on Saturday night. Often, here at our beach, lots of "extra" (illegal) fireworks, including mortar shells. We keep an eye out because most of the beach cottages here have tar roofs.
Have a safe and happy 4th! Reassure your pets.

Guarding the house. Though, now we have a tile roof & it's not such a worry. Steak on the Barbie, of course.

Staying home and relaxing!!!! I hope. Our media room ceiling was repaired yesterday. It was an emotional week. These people just don't have the same sense of urgency. I was so torn - didn't know if I should call the insurance or let the Airtron people's guy do it. One child strongly suggested that I call the insurance, the other was totally against it and the third ignored me. I decided to let the Airtron guy do it. They caused the damage. From all outward appearances he did a good job. I have to ask my daughter to go up into the attic and check the insulation work. So, I need rest.
Am still worried about the termite control installation procedure. The guy works for a major company. We have been with them since we own the house, he is the only one that does it but he strikes me like a flake. All I can do is hope for the best. The thought of these things eating away at my house with tons of eggs hatching would rob me of my sanity. I am so disgusted by all this stuff. But I digress.

We will be staying home and have steaks on the Barbie as well. We won't be able to enjoy the fireworks because the area by the lake where they hold the display is still hopelessly flooded. Too bad because I love fireworks. I am just making headway with my daughter's project and now she already "ordered" another one. I have to do all these things while she is stitching away on her mermaid. My Celtic girls are waiting!!!

Have a wonderful 4th of July everyone and be safe.

Texas Stitcher, So good to hear from you...you are always in my thoughts. I haven't mentioned this before but I have a nephew in Baton Rouge, LA. He is retired from the Sheriffs department there. He gives me updates on everything going on. He has four daughters and sixteen (that's right...16 grand children.) He says that Christmas at their house in total bedlam!!! He tells me many years ago he should have just moved to Florida where his grand mother was and saved himself a lot of angst. He told me that when hurricane Katrina landed....he watched Baton Rouge grow from 250,000 people to 500,000 people literally overnight. Most of this growth came from people in Texas who really had no where else to go. He said all of his local favorite places to shop such as a Butcher now took an hour instead of 15/20 minutes!! I hope all of this lingering water subsides from you soon. I am just sure you must be sick of it. Best regards. Your friend, Carol

P.S. I am taking a break from Nantucket Rose....and going back to Celtic Spring. Arden's birthday is at the end of September!!!

I am in Florida (anyone who wants to visit you are more than welcome) on the west coast. It is hotter than **** and thunderstorms daily, but I got to meet my great grandson for the first time yesterday. It is kind of funny since I have a 2 year old granddaughter and a 1 year old great grandson (by marriage) but mine anyway. My point is...flesh eating bacteria at the beach so I guess no fireworks unless we watch from somewhere else. How can there be this awful thing in the ocean? Imagine all the people who are here visiting and can't go or go and hope they don't get this? The way things are going I don't see ANYWHERE safe anymore and it is so very sad. I will be watching from a park and thinking of all of you enjoying your fireworks with my flag waving proudly!

s1fuss, First...congratulations on the arrival of your great grandson!! What a joy that must be!! Second...I was surprised to hear about this bacteria problem you mentioned. I hadn't heard anything in the news about it. My husband's cousin lives in Naples. They usually keep us posted on all the "goings on" on the West coast. They, however, have a daughter & son-in-law in Marietta, GA (who have two girls) and spend their summers camping up in Georgia. We talked to them last week and they told us one night it dipped down to 50 degrees. That was a "treat" for them!! I hope you do get to see fire works from some "vantage" point. Have a great fourth...

So far since yesterday (on this July 4th weekend:

1) Cut the old roses off the rosebushes in the front yard.....
2) Made up the diced chicken/broccoli/penne dinner that DH and I like
3) Watched tourists staring at me in my front yard while I cut the old roses off the rosebushes.
4) almost stepped on a snake (yes, he was in the grass)
5) burned some wood from our trees that came off during the bad storm we had...
6) Yelled at a boy approximately 12 years old driving a golf cart with 4 other children in the cart at
high speed making 180 degree turns with the cart and kicking up dirt and gravel; next door neighbor
came out also with this situation and yelled at the boy. Now WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD
ALLOW A 12-year-old to drive a golf cart without adult supervision at least???? And why is he being
allowed to drive it???
7) stained some new pine trim to go around doors and window in our utility room.
8) went out with DH and friends to lunch and waitress stated she didn't know who "Cary Grant" was....
9) have decided to STOP doing a smaller pattern on 14 count oatmeal aida and change the fabric to a
28-count fabric that has the color of oatmeal.
10) Listening to the MORTARS (INCOMING!!!) that started on Thursday.....

Everyone have a FUN and SAFE Holiday Weekend!
