Resize a pattern?
My daughter is very interested in two of the Mystic Stitch patterns - Fabulous Fractal Collection XXXI and Fabulous Fractal Collection CIII.

I strongly prefer stitching on 14 count but the size difference between these two patterns will not make a "pair" that she would like. She would prefer to have the red pattern the same size as the blue pattern. Can it be resized?

MY OPINION IS ABSOLUTETLY WORTHLESS. I was surprised to see that the Fractal Collection patterns are in man different different sizes. I cannot imagine attempting to do anything like this and cannot envision how the sizing could be changed. Does she want to place them near each other on the wall? Frame alike and put on different walls? Add a third piece and frame them alike and stagger placement on the wall. Stitch one pattern twice with two different color schemes. Contact Mystic Stitch and see if they have any suggestions.

I am absolutely clueless but anxious to read what others have to say.

Hi,
I will suggest something to see if it works. It won't hurt to try.... Go to "crosstitch.com" and go to their calculator. When you get to the calculator, in the UPPER RIGHT CORNER, change the "stitches" to "size" and then enter the rest of your information to the calculator. Do these steps for EACH of your two patterns. See by "playing with" the different numbers of the calculator if you can get what sizes that are the same for both of your patterns...

Bermuda -- that is a good idea. i tried doing that on my own using my own calculator and paper and pencil. I wish I had thought about what you said.

We all learn from experiences...that's how I ended up doing some changes...I use that same crosstitch.com calculator when I want to take a pattern to either make it larger or smaller than the original. In the past, I had one pattern that "over 2" was going to be like 2 1/2 feet HIGH, so started
"playing" with the numbers. What is so nice about this calculator, it will tell you 2 things: the finished PATTERN size and the size fabric you need for it.

Is it feasible to just adjust the larger piece by moving the edge? Might be hard to make it look balanced, but cutting off some rows & columns might do the trick. I'd use a cardboard template on the picture to see if it was possible. Personally, I would teach my daughter how to stitch & let her do it.
