Other stitches?
Are there any other stitches involved in this design besides the x cross stitch or backstitch? Looking for a little harder design like this one, but I am only experienced with those two stitches. I thought there was continental/backweave stitching in the leaf area but I am not quite sure. Want to double check before purchase.

Looking at the cross stitch close up it looks like half cross stitch like this / is used for the leaves. Dimensions kits often use this technique to give depth to the design and they include diagrams for the stitches that are used in the kit. Very nice design of a fox. Happy stitching.

Yes it looks like half cross stitch is used for the background. Continental and basket weave show only on the back of the canvas. Continental uses 1.5 times as much floss and can pull the canvas out of shape. Basket weave takes 2 times the floss and keeps the canvas square. Both provide excellent coverage. I used to do only petitpoint and needlepoint so these were the only 2 stitches I knew.

Don't waste your time. Both are just half crosses for needlepoint canvas. If you want to learn new stitches, try a band sampler. There are a few here under "samplers". Most have good instructions, plus there's UTube & reference books. Personally, l love them. Be sure to enlarge to make sure it's not all cross stitches.
