The lower the count number, the bigger the end result...a bigger picture. How to figure it out? Well, if you change the pretty high numbers, like 32 to 16, or 28 to 14, or even 36 count to 18, those are all one -half of the bigger number. Since the bigger numbers are usually stitched over two threads, and those lower (1/2 numbers) are stitched over one thread, they come out to be exactly the same size.

You might be changing the look of the picture by not being able to go to a fabric that is exactly one-half of the original recommended size.

You can figure out the size need by dividing the Stitch Count by the Fabric Count. I remember this simply as San Francisco, or S over F (S/F). This gives you the size of the stitched design. Add six inches to the height and the width for framing and you will have the size of fabric needed. Remember: S/F=Design Size.

What to do? Call or send and e-mail to Kristi in customer service. If she does not know, she will find someone who does and she will let you know!

Hello,

This is a manufactured kit made by Riolis. We can't make any changes or substitutions to the kits, unfortunately. Customers can always use whatever floss, fabric, or stitching accessories that they choose to use so switching the fabric is completely up to you but we can not replace the fabric that's already in the kit for you. Also, switching the fabric may result in the pattern looking differently and you may need more floss than what the gives you and the only way to get more floss for a kit is to contact the manufacturer (Riolis) directly and get replacements. I hope this helps answer your question?! Thank you!

I have to agree with the other posters. By switching to that size of a count you would really get a different look to the pattern. You would also need to stitch with 3 strands of floss and would use a lot more floss than the kit would supply you. Perhaps you can find another similar pattern that is not a kit and then you can buy the supplies you need without wasting the money on the kit.
