Aching arms
I recently began cross stitches again after having several surgeries. I bought several cross stitch kits. Every time I stitch for several hours, I end up with arms aching. Does anyone have a problem such as mine, and could you offer any suggestion.

Thanks ahead of time,

Carol

Hi there.

You should rest your arm and if you stitch 4 hrs so you will do 2 instead. Beside that take some pain relievers. That what I suggest for you to do.

So sorry about your arm surgery. I have been stitching for over 30 years. I usually stitch for about 2 hours then I stop for a little while and do something else for about 15 minutes and then come back to my stitching. About the most I have stitched in any one day has been 8 hours when I feel like doing nothing else. LOL Glad to have you here and back to stitching.

I agree with the other stitchers about stitching for 2 hours then take a 10-15 minute break. If you have arthritis in your shoulders and arms, take an oral pain reliever AT LEAST 45 minutes (with some food) before you begin to stitch. Oral medications take at least 45 minutes before they start to "kick in".
Another suggestion is to rest your elbow that's holding the hoop on your chair and sofa arm for additional support; if arm of chair or sofa is too low, add pillows...
