patterns on digital devices
I've seen many YouTube videos where the stitcher is stitching from a pattern installed on a tablet. I have many patterns and wondered if anyone can tell me how to get a leaflet pattern onto the digital device. I have a tablet (Android) but my mind goes blank when I think how to get this to happen! ;-) If I could do this, it would be so much easier than laying it on my chair arm or even holding it in my hand (don't have a stand yet).
Thanks for any help in this. Fae

If you have access to a scanner, you could scan the leaflet and turn it into either a picture file or a PDF file. If you can't scan directly to your tablet, then you could scan the leaflet to a desktop or laptop. From there, you can do one of a few different things:

1) Email the file to yourself and open the email on your tablet

2) Save the file from your desktop/laptop to a micro SD card that you can then place into your tablet

3) Connect a cable between your tablet and your desktop and transfer the file

I feel like I had another option in my head a second ago, but I got distracted and forgot it that quickly! :) If I remember, I'll give you another reply. But these three options should get you started.

KHTreasure - I tried what you suggested and, wow, it worked! I have the pattern on my tablet and it is SO much easier to see. It was a test that I tried. But I do have another question with regards to this. What if the pattern is too big for the scanner? Would you suggest I reduce it before I scan it, seeing as how I can enlarge it once it's on the tablet? The pattern I used as a test did not fully scan because it was bigger than the bed of the scanner. Fae

Well...my only suggestion would be this. If you're willing to accept creases, you could try folding the leaflet and scanning only those parts. You could also mark the sections so they'll be easier to identify when they're on the tablet. For example, if you've folded your pattern into four parts, you could write 1/4, 2/4, 3/4, 4/4 on the pattern in a corner somewhere before you scan again.

Also, if you like when patterns use the overlap feature (2-3 grayed out rows on the next page to show), you could do that with your folded pattern. It would take a little more work, but you could fold, and then do the following: (and I've never done this before...I'm only visualizing so I'm hoping it works!!!)

I'm saying this as if you're folding/scanning based on this layout (Letter S = Section)

S1 | S2
_________

S3 | S4

1) Fold the whole leaflet. Scan only section 1.

2) Remove the leaflet. Using a pencil, gray out the bottom 2-3 rows of section 1.

3) (Get ready to scan section 3) Fold the leaflet again, but this time, fold against the top of your grayed out rows from section 1. Then, INCLUDING the grayed out rows, scan section 3.

4) (Get ready to scan section 2) Remove the leaflet. Using a pencil, gray out the rightmost 2-3 rows of section 1.

5) Fold the leaflet against the left edge of your grayed out rows from section 1. Then, including the gray rows, scan section 2.

(You probably get the point by now, but just in case...!! *lol*)

6) (Get ready to scan section 4) Remove the leaflet. Using a pencil, gray out the bottom 2-3 rows of section 2 AND the rightmost 2-3 rows of section 3. Then folding the leaflet, and including all the gray rows, scan section 4--the last one!!

I hope all of that made some sort of sense!!!!
