Arlene,
Go to www.google.com and enter "blending filament in cross stitch" and you'll have your answer.
I've never used this so I looked it up.

The blending filament I use is made by Kreinik company. It's really thin, ads sparkle and highlights, and doesn't add to the thickness of whatever thread you're pairing it with. There are so many colours to choose from, too!! I used it with a light blue floss for an icy patch to make it looks shimmery, with perle cotton to make a dress look shimmery, with a black wool to make hair look shimmery. Happy stitching!!!

Thank you! Now I get the picture...lol Thought it was more of an outlining thread. A very stunning affect.

Hi Arlene,
Thought I'd add my 2 cents. Like the other stitcher stated, it gives sparkle whether you use it alone or you add a strand of it to a strand of floss. Kreinik blending filament is wonderful for adding those other touches! For example, on a Halloween picture I used a silver blending filament with 310 DMC black floss to stitch on a spiderweb. I knot the ends of my strand of blending filament and one strand of floss together at the end, pull the strands under a number of cross stitches on the back, cross-stitch with my floss/blending filament the item I want sparkle, then when area completed I cut the knot off... hope this helps!

Got it! That must have been so delightful! I can just picture it.
Thanks so much for the 2 cents of info...it was worth so much more! Appreciate all of the help and suggestions.
A great site.....

It was fun. I did it on "Something Wicked" cross stitch pattern by La D Da.

I have a Christmas pic of Mary & baby Jesus. The angel bending over Mary is just blending filament. Very ethereal.

jlhewes,
Oooooh...the angel sounds so beautiful! Did you use one or two strands of the metallic thread?

Bermuda. One strand, but 2nd course \\\\\\\\\. It made the angel lean over the mother & child. Titled. "The Newborn King." Won blue long ago. Thanks!
