picture of the cross stitch
Has anyone ever done this picture in cross stitch? I bought a pattern and it was not the colors in the picture. The skin tones were dark rust and dark purples I had done a lot of work before I got to the skin and couldn't quite figure out how to make it look right trying to pick different colors myself so it was a waist of all that time I had put into it. I would like to see a picture here cross stitched.

You can't trust computer or printed cclors. Plus, this is a photo of the painting. Artecy has been very helpful to customers. Maybe they would send you a lighter color palate for the skin. They watch this site & may respond, or you can email them.

Hi Sarahgifford11,

Thank you for your message. This is our pattern.

We have been designing for 15 years, for the first few years we had different software, some of the colours were a little off, we have removed all of these patterns from sale now. Now we use one of the best programs on the market and we have checked each colour in the software corresponds correctly to the floss colours, all of the patterns we now offer were created with the new software.

Many hours go into making each pattern, we do a lot of work on each image in various photo editing programs before it is put into the cross stitch software, then we go through each pattern and eliminate colours which do not belong and adjust colours for hair, skin etc Sometimes for faces, we may have to totally redesign areas such as eyes, lips etc. We also go through and reduce colours as much as possible and reduce scattered one-off confetti stitches.

No mattern what the program used it always need the human touch to get the patterns looking right. I have seen many bad conversions of patterns lately where the images are just being put into cross stitch software with no adjustments and this is usually where you see skin colours not looking good.

All of the images we display for our patterns are of the cross stitch image NOT the original photos.

We have not received a completed picture of this pattern for our gallery as yet however we are confident it will look the same or very close to the picture displayed.

Please let me know if you have any further queries.

Thanks and Best Wishes
Tereena Clarke
