Does needle size really make a difference in the quality of cross stitching?

To cross stitch you should use the blunt ones for sewing the sewing long ones. That is my opinion.

I know they say to use blunt needles for cross stitching. I have been cross stitching for over 30 years and have always used a sharp pointed sewing needle for my stitching. It is especially good for doing fractional stitches on Aida fabric. It is really up to the stitcher and what works best for each of us. Hope this helps.

It's got to do with the needle width. OK, use size 24 needle on 14 ct Aida, but if you try to use it on 18 ct Aida or 40 ct linen, you will be enlarging the holes to an unattractive degree.
