Jewish Naming and Patterns
NANCY or MISS CROSSSTITCH,

I have a pattern for a Jewish naming ceremony and also a pattern that a friend sent to me that came out of a magazine and is for Hanukkah. If either of you would like them, or one of them,.please let me know! I can mail to you...just give me your regular email address so we don't have to post mailing address online! I just found these in my stash. I have to lessen the load. I want them to have a good home. My great-grandmother, who was from Alsace-Lorraine region (claimed by both Germany and France, although she was German) spoke fluent Yiddish. She taught me all about hand sewing and all kimds of embroidery.
Thanks.

SuPitt - I will defer to MissC, if she wants the patterns. Otherwise, I will be happy to give your patterns a "good Jewish home." I have never seen a pattern for a baby naming. I'm wondering if the baby pattern you have is a sampler of the Hebrew alphabet with things starting with the appropriate letter. I stitched that one years ago. The baby I stitched it for lives in South Africa and is now married and might even have her own baby by now.

Miss C -- I think that the staff at ECS might not have time to provide personal e-mails between customers. It might not be legal or ethical. I guess we will find out tomorrow. Enjoy the new patterns.

Su -- I couldn't send you spam even if I wanted to. Not smart enough. A long time ago I went to business school. That was when we did thing with the visor and quill and adding machines, etc. I aced every chapter. UNTIL it came to the chapter on check kiting and other illegal procedures. Just could understanding the concept of not being honest.

Nancye!

You Crack me up!

I worked as a seed analyst for a well-known international seed company. Their bookkeepers and all accounting staff still sat at those high drafting tables with the one bright lamp, green visors, sleeve garters, and, I kid you not, fountain pens, writing like Bob Cratchitt in the office of Ebenezer Scrooge! This was 1967...

In the lab, we had an adding machine that was old and hard to use. We were heavily exposed to a pink powdered fungicide called Delsan, which stripped the skin off hands. Before I went on to work at the post office, I decided to give the harridan lab boss some fun. I asked the adding machine to divide zero by zero. It went crazy and could not be stopped! She finally had to unplug it! Hah! She was one of the worst people I have ever met.

We did germination tests on seeds. Here, farmers wouldn't buy seeds if the germination rate wasn't in the high 90s. Seeds from Africa or Asia onky germinated at about 2 or 3 %. It is not a mystery why the world starves. I never knew that Somalia lost 29, 000 kids between the ages of birth to 5 years old in one month due to malnutrition until last week. Wow!
