It is up to you to choose and to accept the color of your choice. It is only cross stitch.

Go to Google

Type "DMC Color Families"

It will take you to a PDF chart listing DMC flosses by family. Meaning shades of purple or green or orange, etc.

Look at the suggested flosses that are listed for the pattern. Say light violet, medium violet, dark violet, very dark violet, etc.

Then go to a blue family and try to select shades that are similar (light, medium, dark, very dark, etc.)

Sounds a little complicated but you should be able to figure it out.

I tried to copy the actual link to this chart but I wasn't able to do that. If you can't find it using GOOGLE try look at the DMC-usa site.
