survey for Pink Butterfly
I was asked to respond to my recent purchase. I was actually disappointed because:1) it came in black and white, ( I expected color) and 2) the instructions were printed on 1 1/2 pages .T he starting point was smack dab in the center of both pages which made it very difficult to read. I personally think it could have been printed on a single page.not sure I'll order again. Thank you for listening.

Hi Dort

This is my opinion. I am not an employee of Everything Cross Stitch. Members of this chat are not employees. I am not sure who asked you to review this product.

I am very surprised to hear that you were not happy with this pattern. Artecy patterns are very popular on this site.

I do agree that having the center point in the middle of two pages would be something I would not want to deal with. However, I do not understand why you thought the pattern would be in color. The description states that the pattern is printed with black and white symbols.

I have only seen very positive reviews of Artecy products. (That is not to say that you opinion is invalid or that others would agree with you.

Tereena Clarke is the owner of Artecy. She checks this chat frequently and always replies to comments regarding her patterns. I am sure that she is very interested in your opinion. You could also contact her at www.artecy.com.

I know that it is frustrated when you make a purchase that doesn't live up to your expectations. Everything Cross Stitch is a great company and provides great customer service. I am sure that Tereena from Artecy will be responding to your post. She is in Australia so she might not see it right away. I can't remember if it is yesterday or tomorrow down under. Stick around and join in our conversations.

Whatever happens, I hope that you will be happy with your finished product. Welcome to the Stitcherhood.

Not sure why you expected color when the description clearly states that it is black and white pattern, but as a victim of my own "expectations" when buying on the internet, I suggest you read descriptions very carefully. :)

As for the centering, I cannot speak, but I know the Artecy reputation is wonderful! If you had contacted them with your concerns, I know she would have responded with enthusiasm. Perhaps you should still contact them? Tereena would appreciate it, I'm sure. :)

My "great minds" post was supposed to address Nancye's post...not Sunshine' s (which seems more than a little "cloudy", to me). :) My posts seem to be running a little slow... :)

Hello,

I am sorry that you are disappointed with the design. About 90% of patterns are done in black and white and very few are printed in color now a days due to the cost of printing in color. I also think that the description of this design states that it's a black and white chart under the "Description" tab which is located underneath the picture of the pattern. As far as the placement/sizing of the design, I am sure Teerena from Artecy will be able to answer your question about why it's done that way? Again, I am sorry to hear that you disappointed with the product and we thank you for your review of the design.

I have to agree with the others. The description says that the pattern is in black and white. Very few patterns anymore come in color because it is too expensive to print. I can't remember the last time that I got a pattern in color and I have been stitching for 30 + years.

I have purchased several Artecy patterns and been very happy with them. Like someone else mentioned you might want to contact Treena at Artecy and discuss your concerns. I know they would be interested.

Don't give up on ordering from ECS again. I do not work for them, but order 90% of my patterns and supplies from them. Their customer service is very good. Come back often and post for us about your projects. We are always interested in what everyone is working on.

HERE WE GO AGAIN -- It is too bad that the original poster was disappointed. I wasn't trying to be rude. She made a mistake. We have all done that. She doesn't need a new hobby. Fortunately, it was a small pattern. I've ordered stuff that wasn't what I expected and it was my mistake.

We need to help the ECS staff make product descriptions easier to understand. For, example, I really don't understand why there are so many questions that are asked over and over again. For example -- Is this counted or stamped? Is this a kit? Can I get the pattern only? These are all great questions -- When I look at something here I immediately understand what is or is not included. Apparently there are a great number of people who don't get it.

It is just just the nature of the beast, Nancye! :) Mistakes and misunderstanding...we all misread, misinterpret, assume...or don't read(!!!)...I don't think it has much to do with ECS policies. :)

Hi Dort,

This is our design. Thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry to hear you have been disappointed with the design. We only offer our designs in printed format in black and white symbols as the colour printing costs are excessive. As this design only uses 7 colours what you can do, if you prefer is, make a working photocopy, which we allow for your personal use and use coloured pencils, or highlighters to mark each symbol a different colour.

Alternatively if you email a copy of your receipt from everything cross stitch to me at artecy@artecy.com I can email a coloured copy for you to print yourself.

In regard to the size, the patterns are designed to print on standard paper sizes. Mostly only Kit or magazine manufactures print patterns on one large piece of paper as they have specialty printers. This pattern is 87 stitches across so it would be impossible to read the symbols if we put the whole design on one page. The centering marks are contained on page 1, 45 stitches across and 39 stitches down, they are not on the center of both pages.

What you can do if you like is make a working photocopy and as the design is only 2 pages you can cut off the extra paper between the pages and sticky tape it together to make the one page.

I hope these suggestions will help.

Please let me know if you have any further queries.

Thanks and Best Wishes
Tereena Clarke
