Adding Stars
I'm stitching this on Royal Blue fabric without the background and I want to add stars. How many would be too many and how many would be enough. I'm thinking about using the Mill Hill Seed Beads and doing the 5 point star. I'm also considering doing some in the Krenick #4 braid.

MY OPINION -- I like the idea of using a dark fabric instead of stitching 100% of the fabric. That is what I would do. I like the idea of beads for the stars. Make about the same number of stars that is actually shown in the pattern. Also consider one of the glitzy threads. Not sure if you would be able to make pointed stars. That might take up too much space.

Since this is an
Artecy pattern Treenia will probably see this post and post a message.

Have fun with this one.

Ooooo, I like this idea! Love Santas and this one is very nice...would different size beads be appropriate? :) or a "silvery" floss? Isn't there a dark blue fabric with silvery "frosting"? :)

what about tiny rhinestone buttons or earrings?

I love adding embellishments.

Get some Swarovski crystals in different sizes, some Fabri-Tac glue, (is clear, & won't discolor) a pair of tweezers, & go to work. I used Swarovski crystals on a wedding announcement (it was an engagement ring & wedding ring, so the crystals fit in beautifully) & it turned out super. Plus, it would probably be less expensive than buying the Mill Hill embellishments.

Thanks for all the responses. I had another idea of doing snowflakes instead of starsWhat do you think of that idea

I think, if you do snowflakes, I would do them in different sizes, and use either silver fine cord or glissen gloss filament. It would ll turn out great anyway you go with it, & it will be a one of a kind piece. Just enjoy it.

I love most things Swarovski. So pretty. Way back in the grey matter, I recall someone else mentioning Swarovski crystal beads. I suppose you could google it. It would be great if they could be sewn on instead of having to mess with glue. At least in my case, I am somewhat heavy handed. You could add stars, start with a few spread apart and then fill in until you achieve the look you like or use silver Kreinik or a similar material. You could also use beads. The sky's the limit.
