284Z
I am getting ready to do "The Wedding" for a friend. I am in the process of gathering all my supplies together and am not familiar with the reference to 284Z that is used in the border and the lettering. I did a search of the materials and nothing came up. Can someone please tell me what this is in reference to?

Thanks

fellow stitchers - Am I remembering right or wrong? Wasn't 284Z metallic thread changed to something else? Seems to me when I was doing one of my Lavender and Lace patterns that I couldn't find this thread and found out it was changed to something else? Am I losing it ladies? Help me out here please.

Cheryl...didn't we all lose it quite some time ago?

If you go to the top of this chat blog there is a "search" space. Type in 284Z and you will find all the questions about this floss. It's at the beginning of the chat-page 1. Thank you ECS for adding this to the blog. It is so helpful.

I had google it to find what it was and the first that I had found on the list was this no for DMC.

Follow maubenett's directions and a chat will pop up with an explanation.

jerseycrafter explains that DMC 284Z is a non-divisible 3 ply synthetic thread with a rough texture.

Texas - I just read your post and realized we haven't heard from jerseycrafter in a very long time. Last time I think I read something from her was when she was heading south for awhile. Has anyone heard from her and I just missed it? She always had good advice. thanks.

Thank you to each of you cross-stitchers that responded to my question. I have had this pattern for quite some time so I am not surprised to find out that things might have changed. I love this designer and have several of her patterns.

I found out that 284Z is now DMC E3852.

Now I can get started!

cl, you are right. We haven't heard from her in a good while. I hope that all is well with her. She did give great advice. Arottenbucher hasn't "contributed" in a long time now that I think about it.

I have to drop out from time to time due to other demands! :) I am picking up and doing laundry today. My granddaughter's Winterbreak is over and tomorrow it's back to Kindergarten that means early risings and bus stop trips. My laundry room is across the hall from the office so I run in here and take a break.

Totally unrelated, but a couple of years ago I bought this really nice cookware that was supposed to basically work miracles. I have to say that the food turns out well. It goes from stove top to oven, etc. Unfortunately, the pots and pans are so heavy that I can barely lift them now. What was I thinking??? Obviously nothing. I can't pawn anything else off on my daughter. I just put a pot on for chicken soup and strained the muscles in my back from lifting it from the sink to the stove. :) So, I decided to chat for a bit.

Wasn't there a Toyota sports car by this name? Made Miatas look like a litter box? :) To be fair, they were long before Miatas... :)
