no its a counted cross stitch you can use any kind of thread you want I think it calls for dmc

This is our counted cross stitch design. It uses 42 DMC cottons. This is a pattern only, not a kit so you will need to purchase your fabric and cottons as well.

Underneath the pattern, on the website, Everything Cross Stitch list all the supplies you need so if you like you can purchase the pattern and add all the supplies you need at the same time.
