Lugana Fabric
Thank you guys for giving me the heads up on Lugana fabric. How would you calculate the Penguin project on Lugana. In fact, if I had a project that asked for Aida fabric how do you switch to Lugana. Thanks for your expertise!! Bridget

This pattern is 74 X 192 and lugana fabric go for 5 sizes the 25 = 7.68 X 2.96. For 14 c Aida fabric is 5.3 X 13.7 Have fun

Bridget -- assuming you are using 14 ct laguna the size is the same as 14 ct aida. The description says that the stitched area is 5.3 x 13.7. You should add an extra six inches in each direction to allow for framing or finishing. Purchase a piece that is 12 x 20 inches.

Aida has half the count of Lugana or linen. 14 ct. Aida is the same as 28 ct. Lugana because you stitch over one in Aida but over two threads on Lugana or linen. The number is how many threads per inch . Cute pattern

Thanks for correcting me. I honestly thought that laguna was a brand name for a type of aida. Just like Kleenex is a brand name for a type of tissue.

That is correct if you use 28 ct Lugana fabric but you have to calculate how much you need if you use 25 count. ECS has a fabric calculator on the fabric page. I'm reluctant to calculate for other people because I don't want to be responsible for making a costly mistake. :)

Nancye, try Lugana - you'll love it.
