I also find the colors a little drab - and it didn't help that the first floss listed is drab brown. The power of suggestion, huh? I like the border and the bee and would encourage to change it up. Are you a stitcher that has a supply of floss? Is this piece going to be for you or a gift for someone? Are you thinking of framing it? If it's for you what colors do you like in your house? You can see that you have a myriad of options. Just have fun with it.

If you'd like to look at the different DMC floss colors, try this website:

I agree with both of you about the colors being drab. I would look at the DMC colors sherry has suggested and ask yourself the questions she suggested. It appears from the list of floss needed, you would only need to change out 4 floss colors.
You might also consider incorporating a different fabric color instead of white.

LOL! Variety is the spice of life! It will be interesting to see what floss colors that are chosen. I'm always interested in seeing pictures of WIPs and especially when a stitcher changes the floss colors. . It's like having a bit of a "sneak" peek into each stitcher's personality....

Then I will show you a picture of my Angel of Love when I get home. I changed a lot of the colors, including the beads and metallics.

I love picking out colors! When I get home, I'll pick some out for you and see if you like them.

Simon, sounds good! Love to see your angel and color changes! Please keep in mind that because todays computers are not good at getting colors exactly correct, I may ask about the light purple when it is a dark brown...:)

I think changing the color of the flowers will go a long way towards perking this up. If you can work in two colors in the petals, I think 963 and 3716 would be lovely.
