Switching to 14 count Aida
If I change this to 14 count Aida, how big will the finished product be?
Would there be any challenges changing this to Aida?

Hello,

The stitch count is 300 x 332 so if you did this on 14ct. Aida the stitched area size would be 21.4" x 23.7". Hope this helps :) Thank you!

It does. Shortly after I sent this I saw the calculator!
Thanks so much!

Kristi quoted you that the stitched area will be 21.4 inches by 23.7 inches.

You need to add an extra six inches in each direction to have wiggle room for framing.

You should start with a piece of fabric that is 27 x 30 inches

my problem with stitching on 14 ct. is that I find stitching with two strands of thread (using the loop method of threading the needle) does not cover the cloth very well. I would recommend using 3 strands on 14 ct.

I HATE stitching with 3 strands of anything... :) I would rather work 3 minutes a day with 3 magnifiers, 3 sources of light, a laying tool, a pair of pliers, and a constant complainer in my left ear. :)

Nancye G,

I went off of our fabric calculator that we have on our website and we don't use the 6 inch border rule on that. I think we use either 2 or 3? Either way, I didn't put the actual fabric size that the customer needed, I just gave the finished stitched dimensions for 14ct. because that's what I thought she was asking for?

Thanks Kristi. That was what I was after.

Kristi-- I realize that you quoted the stitched area. I've seen that many stitchers think that is the size fabric they should purchase. I apologize if I overstepped with my comment.

Okay VCESS, you seem to have some very strong feelings about 3 strands. Were you traumatized by 3 strands? Did you have a bad experience that still haunts you? Did you lose a strand? Is there anything we can do to help you let go of these negative feelings? We are all here to help you get through this, however, I would like to understand the genesis of your reaction. Please share.
