STITCHING ON LINEN WITH SLUBS
I have used adia and Monaco cloth but this is my first linen. The linen has LARGE slubs in it. This sounds crazy but do you stitch over or stitch through them? If you stitch over them it looks like it would distort the stitch. Thanks for any help.

It does distort the stitch...it isn't a crazy question. I thought the same myself with my recent linen experience. Come on you linen-fanciers! Give us the skinny on this stuff! :)

I understand about 'slubs' on linen. I have done a few projects on linen that you are speaking off. I look at how "big" (width) the "slub" is. In most cases I was able to cross stitch over the slub without distortion, but on one project, the slub was wide enough that caused me concern that going over it would cause distortion, so I put my needle right down the middle of the slub. It is secure and I avoided a chance of distortion in that one spot.
While I like the look of linen, nowadays I prefer to work with only evenweave fabrics such as Jobelan.

Bermuda and VCess, Have either of you heard from Texas Stitcher? Is there any way to get in touch with her. She always would be on this chat and I'm wondering if something happened to her.

We are concerned as well. I don't know of anyway to get a hold of her and some of us put out a message asking anyone if they knew how to get in touch with her. I am concerned because she used to be on here regularly and have been hoping that she has been at least monitoring the "chat". I certainly hope she and her family are ok....

That's a relief if it's just computer issues! I'm glad she is all right! Computer issues come under my file heading of, "Pain in the ......"

Yes...wanted to "chime in" concerning the "slubs"' on linen. I had an issue with this when I working on Santa of the Forest. I did the same thing as Bermuda...it seemed large enough that the stitch would look "long" to me, so I went through the middle of it. This is most unusual as a rule, and as all the stitchers know, I do love 32 count linen. I am currently working on a 28 count even weave fabric which is much easier on my eyes. I still can't imagine working on 40...but one day maybe I will decide to give it a try. I have a wonderful Flexilens magnifier that I am sure would work.

P.S. I also have been wondering about Texas Stitcher. I disappeared two weeks ago for jury duty and have kind of been waiting to see something from her. It has been quite a while. Anyway, I will send up prayers and hopefully we will find out "all is well".
