Couldn't understand at first.....
I couldn't understand at first why I have NOT had the desire to cross stitch for the last two weeks.....
UNTIL I realized what the last two weeks have been like here and now I understand that it's from physical and mental exhaustion by the time I get through the day. It's been one thing or another and the minute I sit down, I'm asleep....
Maybe it's time to take some "gummy worm" vitamins.....

Gummy worms,.gummy bears, gummy dinosaurs, and my brain is gummy, too. I think I am like you, overloaded physically and mentally...I eat and want to sleep, not stitch. Might be Spring Fever. Cabin Fever.
Just one day of sunshine (still cold out and windy) and I cannot seem to.want to.stitch. Forced myself to kit up.some little projects, but.....yawn..

Hi Bermuda, Sounds to me like you are working too hard. I often cross stitch earlier in the day and do my "real" work later. It's a mental thing!! Wanted to tell you that we did see the new Woodpecker. The parents started staying in an Maple tree that is close to the feeders. They would come down on the wire...and he would go to the feeder. The young ones are very light in color. I have a separate feeder in which I put Safflower seeds. (The squirrels leave that one alone because they don't like the seed.) Yesterday afternoon, I was on the porch and couldn't believe my eyes. A bird I have NEVER seen, actually a pair of them. All bright white...black wings with white spots...and BRIGHT RED on their chest. I found them in my book...they are "Rose Breasted Grosbeaks". What beautiful birds. Made my day. The weather was cloudy/or raining all of last week. Today it is 50 degrees and raining and I understand this coming week will be the same. So, I have plugged in the heater on the porch and have "transplanted" myself out there to stitch!! Can't be inside forever!! Take care of yourself. I hope you feel better soon my friend.

Thanks Su...know it's not just me in the "tired" department....I've finished up (for the most part) with the flower garden in the backyard, so now I can sit back and watch things grow. DH and I have had to deal with "nosy-neighbor syndrome" that infected a couple of people in our neighborhood for the last week and that finally got resolved....

jerseycrafter: Glad to hear about your woodpeckers! Like good parents they appear to be doing their jobs!

I'm heading for the another part of the house for the remainder of the day to go put my feet up...

So both of you have a wonderful day!
Talk with you later.

Bermuda I understand your not wanting to stitch for a while. I go through those periods myself. That is usually when I work on my quilting projects more. I do my stitching usually in the evening while watching my Cubs on TV, DVD movies or a TV show. It is my way of winding down at the end of the day.

Hang in there we all go through it and then we come back to our senses. LOL

Have a good day.

I understand completely. I am sitting here looking at a half-finished sampler and wondering why I have not picked it up and worked on it for the past couple of weeks. But we are remodeling a bathroom and between the stress of that and the non-stop rain for the past eight days {and they expect four more days of rain} I just can't seem, to focus on my cross stitch. What a bummer!

I think that I understand what you mean. When I was going through cancer treatments a year ago, by the time I went to doctors, tests, treatments and work, all I wanted to when I got home at night was to sit on the couch in front of the television. Didn't stitch at all for several months. Counting and pushing the needle through the fabric was just too much effort. I have been back at it now for quite a while at night and on weekends. If you feel up to it, maybe trying stitching for a very short time, like 15 minutes a day just to give yourself a little break from everything else. It might prove to be a 'pick me up' from everything else. Hope things improve for you soon!

Hey everyone, this is the first time I've been on the chat but I was reading these posts and it occurred to me, I thought I was the only one that went through periods of time when I didn't want to stitch. Apparently not. Of course usually when I don't want to stitch I'm usually reading. I have been an avid reader my entire life, and when I pick up a book I have no interest in anything else.
I do love to watch the birds that visit my birdbath though. I saw the most unusual bird the other day. It was so strange looking but pretty at the same time. The wings and chest were black and tan speckled, there was 1 little red patch at the back of the neck right above the wings and on the throat there was one little black patch. Usually we always see at least a couple of unusual birds during the spring and summer but this one was by far the most unusual I have ever seen.
I hope things begin to look up for all of us. Take care everyone.

Bruce STL I am sorry to hear that you endured Cancer last year. I have been through it with several people. I am very aware of the strength and courage you showed to get through the process. I hope you stay free...forever.....
