hobbies I have not had much success with line magnifiers myself. I suppose they might be handy if you are stitching in blocks, however if your chart has your floss colour moving off the line I find, for me anyway, that is more confusing than helpful. I honestly don't know that there is a specific 'tool' out there than can address this.

What does work for me are two things:

1. Photocopying and/or scanning my chart and printing it off at a higher magnification making the chart itself more visible.

2. Using a highlighter to mark off where I have stitched. Another stitcher on this forum shared her technique of highlighting where you plan to stitch in one colour and then going over those squares in another highlighter colour once you have stitched them. I think this is an excellent idea and I plan to try that myself.

I should add that I do use a Daylight magnifier (18' with a flexible neck) to increase the magnification on my stitching but nothing on the pattern itself.

Hope this helps.

Usually I will use some form of the "color it in" technique. I just use a regular pencil and color it in as I stitch it. I tend to do all of one color that's close together rather than do it line by line. Also, plan to follow a couple of other suggestions I've seen on this chat. I like the idea of using a photocopy and making it larger and also the idea of using the two colors of markers is a good one.

If I'm doing a small chart I don't ususally make a copy -- don't generally intend to do a design more than once. I like to use the pencil technique because, if I (heaven forbid) make an error and have to rip it out, then I can just erase the pencil and re-color it when I do it right.

I also have a magnet board that i set my chart against and use strip magnets to hold it on and those are easy to move from line to line so I can keep my place easier. I find the line magnifie distort the lines above and below the line I"m working on and find it to be very distracting.
