line magnifier
What does everyone use a line magnifier or do you people?

Nope...I use flip-up magnifier on my reading glasses with a long magnetic straight edge on the pattern...for more complicated patterns, I've used multiple magnetic edges and multi-colored post-its....
Now, when somebody gets wise and makes a page-magnifier, page-size, that can be used flat against the page, then we'll talk again. :)

Hobbies...Unlike most people...I work at a table. I use a magnetic board that sits on a Tri-Pod. I clip a magnifier with a flexible arm to the edge of it if I have a design with small symbols. I am like VCESS...someone needs to design a magnifier that just lays against the design. I did try a line magnifier but wasn't comfortable using it because it seemed I never had the "right angle" to see what I was doing. It's a "visual thing"...just didn't work for me. Many people use them and love them!

When I make a working copy of my pattern, I enlarge it. I've been hearing that some people scan their pattern, upload it to their phone and can then enlarge it as much as they want.

I have a magnifier but I don't use it all the time. Only when I find it hard to read the symbols. I use the one that rests on your chest with a light on it. Many work just as fine I think.

I used to use a variety of line magnifiers, but now that I have a scanner and a copier that will enlarge patterns, I do that and don't usually need extra help keeping my place. I should mark off stitches that i intend to stitch and those that I've completed, but don't always do that.

I'm a modified cross country stitcher, completing one element at a time which are in close proximity to each other.

What would really help me if the manufacturers went back to coloring the symbols in the patterns. Most don't do that any more and it would really help those who try to finish one color that in close proximity before starting the next one.

I also prefer to blow up my patterns which does make them easier to see.

I have a line magnifier and find it to be a totally useless tool. Many moons ago when I began stitching I bought everything under sun to facilitate my new hobby - big waste of money. I have used it on occasion to decipher the symbol of a fractional stitch especially when backstitching is involved.
I was bored once and examined my stitches with it - totally depressing. VCESS made fun of me and I haven't done it since! :)

Well...that is pretty funny! :) but I usually try to support "funny"...and silly... :) Surprised I didn't try to get you to do more of that...maybe start a club...hmmm...What would we call those members with that particular (peculiar) endeavor? LOL.

Well, the best that I can come up with this early in the morning (remember I already prepared breakfast for a very picky customer and tripped to the bus stop) is "get a life", "bored to death", etc. Of course there is always "the discerning stitcher"! I especially support "silly". Laughter is, after all, the best medicine.

The bus stop is adjacent to our pond and a house with lots of shrubbery. This morning we saw a duck family's nest tucked under the crepe myrtle. After the bus took off, mom took her 8 tiny ducklings across the street to the pond. It sounds ordinary but was really cute to see. They were so tiny and several tumbled off the curb in an effort to keep up.

My dirty laundry is calling. I cannot understand how two old folks can produce so much dirty laundry, dishes and trash. I have to run errands.

More like peculiar behavior! LOLOLOLOLOL

Where is jsimonpurple???

Hi Texas! Enjoyed your story about the duck family! We have several little, tiny, baby rabbits in our back yard now. They are the cutest things. They can literally disappear in an instant under one of our Hosta plants. Also....I have noticed this past week that we have several Hummingbirds coming to our Winter Pansies....and a Weigela bush we planted several years ago. It is much larger this year and has many blooms. We have had so much rain here that I don't even mention it anymore. The Hummingbirds are usually here l-o-n-g before this time! In the next day or two we are supposed to go to the mid 80's and stay here for a while. So...this may be the "real deal"!!! Have a great day.

P.S. I think Jsimonpurple took a "sabbatical" to go back to doll making which he used to do!!
