Polly -- I have three partial skeins of #647 in my stash and one full one. The full one appears to be slightly different than the partials.

Two of the partials came from a estate sale so I don't know how old they are.

I am happy to share.

All I ask is that you acknowledge that you receive the floss. In the past, I contacted two individuals that I had sent floss, asking if they had received it.

One replied -- Yes, I received it but it wasn't the right thing. The other replied that she had been too busy. That is after I went out of my way, to the post office, stood in a 15 or twenty minutes, and spent almost $5.00 in postage because I had put it in a bubble envelope. She didn't have two minutes to send an email acknowledging that the package had been received.

I knew I had a problem when I went to a little varity store in Truckee, Ca and, well, they didn't have it, but two other numbers close to it had two different colors in the bin! I've been stitching with DMC For years, so I have a lot on hand. Recently I did a toddlers bib and bought all new floss. One of the colors was green 907. I thought I might need some additional and checked my stash. When I looked at the old skein I noticed that it was lighter in color. For the most part DMC tries to maintain their colors, however since the floss is colored in large batches it is possible that the pigments may vary from batch to batch. Fortunately I had enough of the new floss to complete the project. When in doubt buy an extra skein of floss in case more is needed.

I am so glad that you all said that DMC #647 is different. I thought that I was going crazy, or had screwed up my colors. I did a frog piece from HAED for my older grandson and realized the color was different, but luckily I had enough of the old color. If you need more, I have some left that I could send you. DMC changed several floss colors a dozen years ago, mostly greys and a few greens.

If anyone has the list of changed colors, I would appreciate if you would post here. The new DMC floss folder I bought is just printed instead of having snippets of the floss. (:-(
