Personal picture for a project
Hi,
If I have a picture that I want for a cross stitch project, can you assign a color code for it if I send you the picture?

There is a computer program called PCStitch (available on amazon.com) that lets you turn any scanned picture into a cross stitch chart. It will give you the DMC colors for the project and maybe others. I haven't used it, but a friend who has says it's great and easy to use.

I'm not affiliated with ECS, I'm just a member of Chit Chat who saw your post.

I've used the website www.pic2pat.com several times for this and always had excellent results! It's free and you can specify the size of the finished design, the count of fabric you want to use, and how many floss colours you want. It even shows you what it will look like with the different numbers of floss colours (you'll want to go pretty high on the number if you want it to be detailed and really look like the photo). It will then give you a PDF file to print out with all the information.

Good luck!

Hello,

We do not convert cross stitch designs for customers :( Sorry!! There are multiple cross stitch computer programs out there that do this though and the other 2 posters mentioned the ones that I would have so I would definitely check those out :)

Those seem to be one step options which are probably going to be much faster than my suggestions, but they did have limited options. (I was looking for a bigger pic than pic2pattern offered). There are instructions for creating your own cross-stitch chart here: http://www.instructables.com/id/Cross-stitch-pattern-in-photoshop-with-symbols/ and there is a color match program here: http://www.damaniel.org/dmc/dmctorgb.html

I'm sorry, Nancye and ECS, I didn't know all that. I tried to search for PCStitch on ECS and I guess I put in a space because it didn't come up.

Aunt Connie -- hope I didn't come across as being a little sarcastic or rude. If you click on the Cross Stitch Supplies button on the left of this screen, it will come up as the last item on th loast row.

I am surprised that Kristi didn't mention this.

Nancye, that's all right, I don't mind being corrected when I'm wrong. I should have thanked you for pointing it out. Kristi can't catch everything so I'm glad you did.
