most amazing husband
Hi fellow stitchers - I am one of those people who learned a long time ago to keep receipts - just one of those crazy things I do. Well...this morning I was cleaning up my computer area and had a whole fistful of receipts from ECS and Stoney Creek from the first of the year till my most recent order so out of curiosity I added up the totals of both of them. My husband came in just as I was finishing and asked me what I was doing. I told him and when he asked what the total was I said "that is a secret I will take to my grave." He said "is it more than a thousand dollars?" I told him gracious no. Then he said - if I enjoyed my stitching then it didn't matter how much I spent". They just don't come any better than this. We just celebrated our 52nd wedding anniversary and he still amazes me. Just thought I would share. Thanks for listening.

Cheryl, Sounds like you not only have a "husband" here....but a "best friend". That is just the best!!!

I am very blessed indeed and I thank God each and every day for this wonderful man. He brings my packages in from the mailbox and just puts them on the kitchen counter, smiles and keeps on going to whatever he is doing. Since there are so many of us long time older cross stitchers on this board I am thinking you are all as lucky as I am. I have given him many hugs today and fixed him a really good dinner. I hope other stitchers will share their stories as well. Take care and happy stitching.

Cheryl, since you asked us to share our stories....... Mine stays out of my business and never asks what I spend or on what. He told me a long time ago that if I had the money and wanted it I could buy it. I would have done that anyway. Either he is a nice person or he trusts me implicitly. I also feel blessed because I could not tolerate a meddling person.

BTW, our 49th anniversary is today. I just realized it when I checked my calendar for appointments. We no longer exchange gifts for any occasion or celebrate. Too much stress! :) That reminds me one of the grandson's is turning 16 today. I have sent card and gift but have to make the call.

Have a great day and stop adding up your purchases. In my case, it would lead to regrets and a major headache. I'm still working on the Celtic Christmas and just ordered 4 more cards of the gold braid. This thing will end up costing a fortune. Had I but known that there are over 1,000 beads to be attached......! :)

My husband and I were married 44 years this August. I have always been amazed when I would ask girlfriends if they wanted to go to lunch or to a craft show and they would say that they had to ask their husband for permission. My husband and I both have our own hobbies......his hunting and fishing, mine cross stitching , sewing and crafting.....and neither of us have ever had to ask permission to do anything. We have always discussed spending a large amount of money on anything but we budget weekly spending money and we spend it however we want. We have 2 daughters and when they were growing up and we both worked we shared the parenting and the household work. Just a few nights ago a group of us at our campground in Corpus Christi were talking and I mentioned how lucky I was to have a great guy for a husband. I then added not to tell him I said that but everyone just laughed because we tease each other like that! As for cross stitch patterns, last week I was just going through the patterns on this site and I realized that I have quite a few that I haven't gotten around to stitching yet. I may have to make a New Year's resolution not to buy any more until I stitch the ones I already have. Notice I said "may have to" not I'm going to!!!
