Yellow Floss/Ivory Cloth
I used a light yellow floss on Ivory Aida cloth. The letters I stitched in light yellow do not contrast enough with the cloth to be read.
Is there anything I can do besides tearing it out and using a darker floss, to emphasize the letters?
Thanks for your help!

You could backstitch around the letters with a darker floss, if they are done in cross stitch.

If they are done in backstitch, you could stitch over them with a strand of a darker blending filament or metallic thread.

I didn't know if backstitching was 'allowed' in cross-stitch...
Thanks!

Holly,

Backstitching is very much done in cross stitching! I do it on 99% of my projects. It makes it look more finished and the colors really pop.

Some stitchers and patterns use a small amount of it here and there. I personally will backstitch every color change. It's more work and time consuming, but I think the finished project looks better over all.

I generally use black (310) floss, but one project called for black/brown (3711). I once used Navy Blue (939) to outline light blue angel wings on photograph frames of my niece and nephew .

holly....I agree with the other stitchers. I would not take out the stitches....I would definitely try back stitching around the letters. You can pick any color you want to do that. If it were me...I would take the piece you are working on to a place like Michael's Arts & Crafts. I think that if you can "lay" colors on your fabric for a comparison, your choice will be much easier. We like to say "there are no cross stitch police" here! Good luck...
