Do you keep track of your work in a journal?

I don't keep a journal, per se, but do take a photo of everything I've ever made. For past 10 years it has been a digital photo. I upload that into a file on my computer with appropriate title (needlework, quilts, etc.) and date the photo. I also add a small description if I'm giving it to someone including the name and occasion. I love going back over these photos and they often inspire me to do another one!

I began my journals in the pre computer days so I just stuck to them. I began them without pictures.

Ladies, you are so organized. I'm impressed. Wish I had thought to of that. I gave up on baby books once the kids turned six weeks old. I know, I should be ashamed.
Seriously, keeping a journal is a great idea. I have given away 99% of everything I have ever made and now wish that I had pictures. I don't even have patterns any longer. For me, it's much like reading a book - once is enough.

I haven't kept a journal of the patterns I've stitched. BUT I need to make a journal of all my patterns. I discovered I need to do this a few weeks ago when I was going through my binders where I keep my patterns and discovered I had 2 copies of the same pattern. I forgot I had already purchased it.....you know the mind is the first thing that goes when one turns 65! Only kidding but I swear some days it feels that way!

I do take photos of everything I stitch. I use a journal made for cross stitch and enter as much info.as I have. I love looking back on my projects. Most entries include info.like the labels I mention below.
If I want to, I will list.floss use count & type of fabric, etc.
Every framed piece gets a label that I do on the computer and print out to glue on the back. It includes:
The name of the design
The designer's name (if known)
The company selling the design
Stitched by (with my name)
The date completed
Design personalized for (if you change letters, worfs, parts of the design)
Framed by (if it is framed by other than me)

And that is quite enough.

Wow Su! I just stitch in my name or initials and Year. I can see that is what my Gran did somewhere on the picture.

Last year, I started keeping a stitching journal. I include the name of the piece, designer's name, where I found it (magazine, online freebie, etc.), when I began & finished, and what I did with it (gift, etc.). I also take a photo that usually gets posted on fb or Instagram. Last year, I completed 26 cross-stitch projects!!
