Size of pattern
My passion is cross stitching houses in just one color. I have done all the Ginger & Spice houses. I ordered the Old House Monochrome Vintage Nostalgia patter and was dismayed to find out it's over two feet by two feet. I expected it be something like 10x12, etc. It's my fault for not paying attention to the measurements. My question is, is there anyway to make it smaller?

My only suggestion if its possible is to switch to a different size point fabric if you are working on that kind of canvas. Your design will be more detailed and smaller but your overall finished size will be smaller too. Does anyone else have any other suggestions for her? I believe ECS has a fabric conversion calculator that I am still trying to figure out how to use.

Thank you for your response. I usually work with 14 ct. fabric and I would have a problem with working anything much smaller.

I wish I had something else to offer. I work best on 14 pt. too. Maybe someone else who has encountered the same kind of challenge can make a suggestion. Trimming might help.

For instance, if the outermost set of blocks on the grid are not essential to the design can you just omit them? Working from the outside in, "trim" all four sides until you get to the size you want, much like trimming a photograph. Or maybe just trim left or right sides, or top or bottom or just the parts you could live without.

Trimming is about all you can do. Could you stitch on 16 or 18 count fabric? If those options aren't for you then just stick in your stash (for donating later) and chalk it off to experience. We all have made similar mistakes. I just say "oh well" and put it out of my mind. I know it's disappointing ........
