lugana
I am trying to transition from aida to lugana. Cannot do linen. Is 25ct. Lugana same as 14ct aida, except that it is evenweave. Thanks

Hi Oma,

It is not the same fabric as Aida, but it is still easy to work on. Most are a cotton, synthetic blend and the holes are easy to see....but it has a more refined look than the Aida which is nice when there is a lot of background showing in a project.

Depending on your pattern, you would be stitching over one or two threads. Two threads on a 28 count evenweave would be the equivalent of a 14 count Aida. The two threads is great for patterns with lots of half or quarter stitches as it's so much easier to make these fractional stitches on.

Go for it... nothing not to like!

25-count lugana is 12.5 stitches to the inch, so a little bigger than 14-count. I love 25-count lugana!

Lugana and Jobelan fabrics are evenweaves and I use them almost exclusively because I love the feel of the fabric and the horizontal and vertical threads that make up the fabric are the same diameter, so your "X's" end up all being the same size. There are 25, 28, 32 and 36 count evenweave fabrics in different colors to choose from.
