1st time linen user again
Can't get started. Haven't put one stitch in yet! After putting linen on my stretcher frame all the rows are terrible. They look like a snake. I then tried using a scroll and same result. I am going to try a q-snap and hope that will work. The reason I switched to linen is a ton of quarter stitches in pattern. I saw a 28 ct aida I would use but the size was 15x18 and I need 18x18. Any suggestions. Thanks.

There were a couple of times that I had the same trouble with some linens for a couple of small projects.
I ended up using a round plastic tension hoop and it was still a bit of a struggle. I centered the linen over the hoop, placed the top hoop over it and tightened it enough to hold the fabric, but loose enough that I could go around the outside of the hoop and manually pull the excess fabric until the fabric threads were straight vertically and horizontally in the inside of the hoop.
It took me about 30 minutes working on it in this way... cursing was involved.
I eventually was able to stitch and complete the project but the experience left me with the decision to use evenweave fabrics and only occasionally use linens for very small projects like Little House Needlework "ornament" projects or small Lizzie Kate projects.

Thanks Bermuda, I bought a 17x17 snap frame at Michaels with a 50% off coupon for $8.00 and a nice piece of 28 ct evenweave (20x24) with a 40% off coupon for $3.29. I put cloth on frame and the rows lined up almost perfect. Great tension. I love this setup.

Good to hear you have worked it out. The 28-count being an Evenweave is always great like the other evenweaves for cross stitching. It's always my "go-to" fabric in the 25, 28, 32 and 36 count range.
Let us know how your project is coming along....:)
