Needles
I find all my needles are bent right below the eye. Does anyone else do this?

Hello eagle,

Yes I do it as well and it is frustrating. I know it means I am either holding the needle to tight, I am pushing it to hard through the fabric but I find the biggest reason it happens is because I push the needle into the arm of my recliner instead of putting it in the fabric or placing it in a needle holder which I also have sitting next to my chair....;) I just find the arm easier plus I am lazy...lol I just wanted to let you know you are not the only one. :)

Happy stitching!!!

I have the same problem and agree with the other chat person; especially when you grab the area right below the "eye" when grabbing the needle to pull the floss thru the fabric. Also think that the less expensive needles demonstrate more "metal fatigue" up in the needle "eye" area where the metal is thinner. I have had less needle "failure" when I use Bohin needles.

Bohins are my needles of choice. I damage mine too, especially the smaller ones. They are rather delicate and endure a lot of use and abuse. :) I believe that the threader causes a lot of wear and tear on the needles. I had a big problem with Anchor and John James needles - one side of the eye would break away. No more, since I discovered Bohin.

Where do you buy Bohin needles? I have the same problem with needles that bend.

123stitch.com has Bohins for a good price... less than $2.60 a pkg. :)

Amazon-buyer beware!!! :) They are selling the same package of needles for almost $9 a pkg!!!!!!!!

Yes, I saw that Amazon $9 dollars per pack ad also VCESS. Who are they kidding?

$ 9 for needles? That's crazy. Maybe it's a jumbo pack?
I know that I have to be more careful when I order from Amazon. I ordered water filters for the fridge, I wanted one but they only came in packs of two. I thought that's what I had ordered. Don't you know I ended up with 4 filters - again. My fridge is almost seven years old, the filters only have to be changed out every six months. This appliance probably won't even make it another 2 years! This has happened to me with other products as well. Haste makes waste.

Hey Vcess- checked out 123stitch for the needles, of course saw a pattern I need to have! So my 2.50 needle purchase will end up costing that much more- oh well, such is the way of stitchers

LOL. I know that melting bank balance feeling--I found a needle minder, some tacks for the DD, a different beading needle, Sullivan floss was on sale--thought I would give it a go...plus the needles I actually wanted...and that doesn't count my ECS order! :) When the wish list gets in the equation...I am so spoiled...and blessed! :)

I've never seen bent needles. Maybe they are like our lipsticks. Everyone's has a different shape because of the way we apply it.
