possible free kits and supplies??
Posted By:    liss1974
I dont know if this is allowed. I use to cross stitch all the time but slipped away from doing it. i would love to get back into it but my husband hasnt worked in 9 months, I work 2 full time jobs tryin to make ends meet and theres just no money for anything extra. i have 4 kits picked out on this site and in my wishlist cart, does anyone know of maybe a place that one could get supplies, kits that one might be able to get for little or no cost....if that makes any sense....

I know you can get free patterns at lots of websites. Free supplies are harder. If you have a local needlework club, they might donate. Or you could try a variation of "crowd funding" on Facebook. A lot of stitchers have big stashes and many are willing to give away some things to help another stitcher. Good luck!

What kind of supplies are you looking for? Have you had time to search the internet for free patterns? What are the items you've added to your wish list, I might have one in my stash of patterns I could send you.

What EXACTLY do you need? Fabric/Floss??
Maybe I can help. I have been x-stitching for over 30 years...I'm bound to have SOMETHING I can send you!

Please list your email address. No one on this chat list will be rude to you or angry with you. We would like to help. Please let us do that! We may not be able to get you everything, but we will sure try to help! Tell your daughter that one of your cross stitch buddies truly loves her persistance to graduate when home circumstances don't allow for any celebration. Tell your kids you love them every day, no matter what. Our daughter survived horrid things before adoption. We told her that we loved her, but did not like some of her decisions. Now, at 42, she is a wonderful woman, a good person. Hope against hope that life will be better. Please list your email!

Great! Thanks for the email address. I'll look around and see what I can send you.
And I doubt if anyone here would put you down. It's life and we ALL go through things. Hang tough!
Congrats to your daughter!

Thank everyone who has tried to help "liss1974@yahoo.com". Her name is Melissa and if you email her and help, she is truly grateful. I have a clear picture of what she is experiencing. We are here to chat and share, which might make some of us uncomfortable at times. Please remember that chat is chat, and I only wish I knew you folks a very long time ago. Love to all!

Oh Boy, they must be mistaking the victim for the deadbeat. My aunt had a deadbeat who threatened to kill her if she tried to leave. Fortunately for her, he got tired of her when the kids were grown, and told her to go.

And that is precisely why I love everyone in this chat room! So many offers of help! Write to her email address and mail her anything you can donate! We all have even just a little bit extra of things needed, like floss or fabric or needles or tools or accessories. For years, my family gifted me stuff and I am sending her some floss and the organizing bobbins and extra floss and some 14 count Aida (I like tiny stitches), etc. It doesn't cost much to mail and often victims just need someine to care, just a little, to gain the courage to be a survivor and not a victim. Being alone can be scary!

Dear Liss1974: I understand what you are going through. I had one those types of husbands. The relationship was 6 years long, but the marriage only lasted 6 months. I took him back after his deadbeat ways for 5 more years, but it didn't last. I kicked him out. I worked and made the money, paid the bills, bought a house under MY name (which he didn't like b'c I didn't include his name) and raise my boys. It wore me out. That's when I started stitching - to escape!

Hang in there Liss1974, there's someone out there for you that will work with you instead of against you. I finally found my soul-mate at the age of 41. He's wonderful and helps me with everything! I mean everything, cooking, cleaning, he does all the laundry for 14 years, and always the yard work. My yard is beautiful b'c of him. If you are doing all the work, making all the money, then honey, you can do without him. Kick him out or move out! You can do it on your own, you are already! You don't need a man that doesn't pitch in. A relationship and/or marriage is a TWO WAY STREET. Now a days, it takes two to give 100% (not 50%) to make a relationship work.

HandyCampersp: If you bought just the pattern, I will get the floss for her to include needle and aida. Everyone needs an escape, even if they are perfectly happy. Email me at jclifford@bbh-design.com and tell me what is needed or give me the pattern # and I will look up the floss and send.

If I'm remembering Melissa correctly, her husband used to work hard. We're lacking facts here,& we're not clinical psychologists. However, this could be a case of Depression, & you can' t break out of it without medication, like Wellbutrin, Prozac, or others.

Anyway, we're getting really far from stitching. It's nice to help someone who enjoys the same hobby. At church, you feed the hungry and they're hungry again the next day. This lasts, & is really fun to do! Keep up the good work.

This is what Jennifer at ECS stated:

You all are too sweet!  If you ladies decide to place an order for her you can send me the order number and I will make sure to not include the receipt and we could send a note from all of you ladies in place of this if this would work for you?

Liss1974, it's clear you have a very rude society. These people should be minding their own business. I don't tolerate this kind of thing. Fortunately, people rarely try with me, because they realize soon that I can be really mean & get revenge. I had an aunt & great-aunt who went through your situation. Not that uncommon with us females.
jclifford
05/28/14
I agree with JHewes! Damn to all those that criticize. Apparently they haven't ever been in this situation. You are very brave to have asked for help, I wouldn't be able to. But I'm an A..H... reincarnated when it comes to people bullying others or speaking out of hatred and prejudice. You stay focused and we are all praying for you Melissa.

Oh, please, Melissa. You need the depression medication yourself. Paxil is excellent for women. And tell these people MYOB!

Texas Stitcher, Melissa removed her posts due to criticism for asking for help. She said earlier her husband got to come with her permission, & he decided to go off his medication. This is, unfortunately, very common. People quitting their meds, AND women letting their husbands come home.

i want to say my daycare children are not in harms way. my husband walked away from his semi and is choosing not to work and yes he was out of the home for 1 year a couple years back and was on meds for depression and yes when he was allowed back in he went off of them, nothin i can do about that. and i was told by someone on here i needed meds to, yeah that may be the case but hmmmm my husband and i dont have health insurance...im sorry i cant afford the 700 dollars its goin to cost me to cover the 2 of us and the state i live in claims i make too much for any state assistance. and yes i deleted my posts as i felt i was bein attacked again. and if i cld figure out how to do it i wld delete my orignal post.

sjesi48: You don't have to wait for it to be delivered to your home. Jennifer with PCStitch (ECS) will send everything any of us order to her in one box with our names only on it. Just see my post. Send Jennifer your order # and she will intercept it and send to her. If it's too late, then it's ok too. Thank you for helping.

It feels good to see all of us helping Melissa. This is bring her spirits up a bit to know that there are people that cares about her even though we don't know her.

Melissa: Don't delete any posts from here. If there's negativity, we will deal with them. Let them say what they want, we will say what we want too.

Since everyone got her what she wants on her wishlist, I will pick out something different for her.

Redbeesz ordered the Graduation Dreams and the Frog Pile and 4 packs of needles. Thank you Redbeez!

Melissa: I find working a cross stitch project eases my mind & makes me feel more peaceful. Hope that it does the same for you. Isn't it amazing how generous people can be in this day & age? It's heart warming. You all have my respect for exceptional generosity towards someone caught in a situation not of their making. Hang in there-we wish you all the best!

I am getting Melissa her Butterfly Forest kit. That ends her wish list for kits and I will get her another kiit, then send her my exta floss and some fabric. She is SO grateful. I write her daily and just listen to her talk. I never suggest remedies, as that is up to her. She is well aware of services in her area. Money always a factor. And all us married women know how hard it is to change habits of a husband, let alone a diabetic depressed and disinterested previously violent one. For a young woman with much more drudgery than fun, she will make it. You are ALL so generous. Not just the gifts, but the care, concern, encouragement and prayers for her. She just is a very wounded person and is easily upset by critcism, no matter how well meant. Outright nastiness hurts anyone. I like to see positive chats! Thanks to all!

Liss1974: The only drawback is this: We would love to see your finished pieces when you are done. We have a website that we post our finished projects to show off.

Go to Google. Type in "drive.google.com" go to where you login.

Type in the login email: "stitchersonly@gmail.com"
Type in the password, "stitchersunite"

Make yourself a folder (or I will be glad to do this for you) and post your pics in your folder. Also, browse around and look at some of our projects we have completed.

Hi Melissa, I'm so happy you received the Frog Pile kit and look forward to stitching it. You must feel like you hit the jackpot of Christmas with all the wonderful kits and accessories you have received from other stitchers through this Chit Chat room. I'm sure I can speak for the others to feel so fortunate in being able to help you out. We all need help as we travel through life, especially when life becomes a bit bumpy. I pray your situation improves with each passing day. With all the new kits you might feel slightly overwhelmed, but just remember to take One Day At a Time…One Stitch At a Time!

I try to take time out everyday to stitch, whether it is a few minutes or a couple of hours, though it doesn't always happen on a daily basis with my jobs. Like you and others, I find comfort and solitude in the peacefulness of creating. Good luck and have fun! Barb

I know the frustration everyone has with posting the same chat twenty times because the "post a reply" button taking a long time to post. But won't folks please be polite and go back and click on "edit" and then delete all the extra posts, please? And TROY!!! Please get the tech folks (I think that might be you) to increase the sensitivity of the "post a reply" button! OK had to laugh as i was also guilty of too many clicks on the send button... after the first time i learned to be patient but at first you just don't know if it went or not! I sent Liss the HOME kit and thought i had posted that... if she gets 2 she can use one as a gift for someone! I also sent a pile of magazines with patterns small and large fast and easy and some more difficult. she can look thru them and see if there is anything interesting. you ladies are all great to want to help and its good to be with a group that does.. its all too easy here on the internet to be anonymous and obnoxious to people instead of sympathetic and helpful. thanks to all and Liss any time you need anything or just an ear we are here!

No sjesi48, you are not wrong.

LIss1974: If you are not logged in, it won't keep your running wishlist. You have to be a member in order to have your wishlist continuous. Try that. I've had my wishlist for about 6 months now. I add to it and order from it.
