Detangler
Hello Fellow Stitchers!
I have been cross stitching for 40+ years and still am learning! Does anyone have a recommendation for separating single strands of floss and making them smooth? Years ago I had a product that was sort of waxy, but really didn't like it. Any input appreciated! Thanks! Pat

I use DMC exclusively

Was it Thread Heaven? I tried that, but don't use it. I just pull out 1 strand at a time & never have problems. Don't know if it matters that I use DMC &Anchor floss.

Yes, it was Thread Heaven, but like you, I didn't care too much for it. Maybe I'll give it another shot. Someone once told me to separate the threads then switch the cut ends. TY all

The DMC is the best in embroidery floss. It has been used in my family for 3 generations. the cotton originally from Egypt which they call it there (the white gold) it is one of the best to be used around the world for 150 years for its length. It is one of the wealth of the Egypt for its people and the DMC
is a brand had been manufacturing in France. the company had been owned by a man who had given it to his nephew who had the initial of DMC that all.

Oh, I'm sold on DMC for sure! Guess I'll keep on with the same system.

I use DMC and the thread that comes with the Dimension kits. I also use Thread Heaven, separating every thread individually before putting the threads back together for the required pattern amount. I use a little extra Thread Heaven on the thread ends and also clip the thread end as it gets ragged with stitching. I'm not sure how much Thread Heaven helps, because I still get tangles now and then. So I think tangles are just part of our hobby.

Miss Crossstitch we don't need another history of DMC floss for the umpteenth time. We all know where DMC floss came from.

Like jlhewes I just pull each DMC thread out one at a time then put together. That has always worked for me too.

I have an item called a stripper, it's a small disk that holds water and a thimble with a small disk of Velcro on the side and you wet the Velcro a run the strand of floss between the Velcro and your finger, smooths the floss right out. I got it at a shop called Stitches and Things phone number is 810-629 -3333 it's in Fenton, Mi
