Gridding Thread
Got my gridding thread in mail today so going to do a small project this weekend to try it out. Going to do Dragon Mr. Thor with it. It is a small very easy pattern. I bought it a couple months ago because it was so cute. I wish I had got all of them by Cross Stitch Wonders back then because they are no longer available from the company and they are so cute. Wish me luck. LOL

It only takes me a couple of days to get my stuff from ECS, because they are in Dayton, OH and I live in NW Ohio. I just ordered a couple more patterns this morning. I guess now I am going to have to live until 150 instead of 120 years old. LOL Guess I could spend my money on worse things. Have a good weekend everyone!!

You got that right, syagel. Whenever I feel guilty about buying patterns, etc that I will, in all likelihood, never work, I remind myself what a wholesome hobby this is. We could gamble or drink our money away. Let's just enjoy it.

Well I am starting to sew the gridding thread on my fabric. It isn't hard but seems to take awhile, but you all tell me it is worth it so we shall see. This is about the first new product for cross stitching I have tried in a long time, but hearing you all talk about it convinced me to try it.

Forgot to mention that latest Herrschner's catalog had 2 kinds of gridded white Aida. It said the lines wash out. Some were interested in this several months ago.

May have to check that out myself. Thanks. I get their catalog, and a lot of other quilting and cross stitching catalogs. Those are the only "junk mail" I look at. LOL

PS: the red fishing line took too long to insert & got in the way of my stitching (couldn't see the hole), so I tossed it.

syagel, what are talking about????? You are an expert!!! The grid business is for beginners, not even I go through all that trouble. My "I have to follow instructions to the letter" daughter does these things. Good luck and give us a post of how it went. I have the girl all day tomorrow. Friday, it's grandparents' lunch at Pre-K!!!!! My cleaning lady comes that day also, that means that I have to get busy picking up etc. Saturday morning yet another person from Ethan Allen is coming by to look at that crap they sold me. So I hope that I can steal away for a few minutes to read all my chit chats I received. Right now I am cooking dinner and learning how to use the smart phone. Hope it'll "click" soon. Texting is not exactly as thrilling as people make it out to be, the itty bitty key board gets on my nerves. I don't know the language so I have to spell it out. The stuff I do for my kids.......

I have to agree with you Texas Stitcher. It is taking too long to stitch the gridding string in. I want to just stitch and go. I don't have trouble following patterns even big ones. So many talked about how neat the gridding thread is so I thought I would give it a try. I think this is probably the only pattern I am going to use it on. Too much trouble. Glad it is a small easy pattern, and at least I can say I tried it. Will make great hanging string for the Christmas ornaments I am making! LOL

Are you serious about using it for ornaments? I'm looking for something to use. I have small crystal snowflakes and stars that I place deep into the tree and the thread that I've been using is a tangled mess every year after I wash them.

I agree it's too much work. I've watched my daughter, she did some Hardanger table cloth and after all that work she was still off by one thread. It's a UFO now.

Some things have to tried that's all there is to it. Now I keep it simple.

NW Ohio, syagel? I was born and partly raised in Toledo. Still miss Ohuio. Dragged to California at age six. Don't like it. Never will. Back to Toledo and Put-In-Bay in 1959. Not since. Where are you?

Su Pitt I was born in Bryan. Ohio and have lived in rural Defiance, Ohio for 33 years in a house my husband, 2 sons, and I built with out own hands. My husband died in February, but there is no way I will move out of my large house. I love living in the country. Been to Toledo lots of times over the years. Have visited California when my son was stationed at Camp Pendleton. Nice place to visit, but couldn't live there. Too many people.

Texas Stitcher yes I am going to use it for the ornaments that I made for gifts. I am not even going to do the pattern I was going to try it on. Just too much time to put in the Aida fabric. I am like you. I don' t have trouble following my patterns, and this is just too much of a waste of time when I could be working on my project. It is $9.00 down the drain, but I have wasted worse money. At least I tried and found out that I didn't like it.

Have a good day all!
