My son is a Sgt. Major in the Marine Corps (26 years), and I learned a long time ago that the Marines don't like the "Squids". My son said the Navy is only good for taking the Marines to the landing zone so the Marines can be the first in. LOL

she had lost 2 of her children when they were young. I know a lot about my ancestry more than I know about learning. It does t mean that I am ignorant.

syagel is absolutely correct. The Marines do not like the Navy. I knew several Marines that had successfully transferred from the Navy because the Marine Corps is superior. The Air Force is referred to as the Chair Force, the Army members are called grunts. It's all good natured teasing and in the end we all respect each other and recognize that we are all serving or have served our country. Although I have to say that the Marines are the cream of the crop.

Incidentally what country are you from that your mother was able to buy your brother's way out of the military?

Nor does it with this former soldier and wife of a former soldier and mother in law of former soldiers and the list goes on.......

My son is currently in the Marine Corp., and yes, there is a certain antagonism between the Navy and the Marine Corp. which goes back to the Marine Corp once have been considered part of the Navy.
The antagonism is usually a few retorts towards one another, but I'm aware of actual physical confrontation at times between individuals of the Navy and Marines.
But when "push comes to shove",- when it comes to protecting our country- ALL the U.S. armed services comes together to do their duty.

Bermuda where is your son currently stationed? How long has he been in? Mine is in Okinawa, Japan for 2 more years. He has had 4 tours in Afghanistan. Has your son had tours there also. He was also in Desert Storm in the early 90's. From one military mom to another - Semper Fi!
