Couching
I am working an old dimensions pattern called Wedding Promise. I am pretty much finished except for the couching. I have #7 Japan Gold and it is a lot of couching. My problem: I am using DMC #818 Light pink to tack the Japan Gold. It is barely noticeable which I like. I can't find anything on how to finish the back side or how it should look. How much of the gold should I leave on the back and do you just leave it hanging there? Please help, Thanks

Hi there

There is a lot about couching in cross stitching on youtube.com. I advise you to go there and look at it. just write all about couching in cross stitching. Good luck.

When I have to couch a fiber, I usually try to couch the loose ends to the backside of some existing stitches.

Not sure what you mean when you say go to cross stitching

Well, I just assumed you had other stitching near the couched thread. If not, I would fold back the Japan cord under itself & couch it using the backside threads or couching stitches only. When I have to rip out stitches, I try to get a short tail, so I don't have to rip out enough to thread a needle. Then I fold it back & couch it on the backside of other stitches, using a single strand of floss.

I think what JHewes is saying, take your couching thread (on the backside of your project) and run that thread through the existing stitches to anchor it. That's what I did to mine.
