I should know this! How many yards of floss are in a skein? I'm trying to work an old tree skirt kit, and the floss is missing! A lot of the color numbers don't match DMC numbers and the floss lists number of yards, not skeins, and I've forgotten!! HELP!!!

DMC floss has 8.7 yards in each skein. Hope this helps. Not every kit uses DMC floss. if you know the name of designer of the kit you can go to Cyberstitchers.com and get a conversion chart for different types of floss to DMC. If you let me know the designer company and name of the kit I will be glad to help you.

Found recently that Anchor skeins are only 8.0 yds. Don't know if that's new, or what. Be good to check Sullivan, Craftways & others. I always assumed 8.7 & 6 strands was the rule, but not so nowadays.
