When I went to the Artecy website and a couple others and none of them called for white Aida fabric. They just called for either 14ct. or 18 ct. fabric. I would use a black 14ct. or 18ct. fabric. There is no reason to use a white fabric and spend all that time filling it in with black background stitches. You then won't need all the black floss that the pattern calls for starters otherwise I don't see any other adjustments to the pattern. it is beautiful.
