cross stitch needles
Can someone recommend the best size needles to use for aida cloth, I usually cross stitch on 14ct, because I'm still pretty much an amature when it comes to cross stitching, and thank the lord there's a chit chat board, because I've really had a lot of help from you all out there, thank you for being there! Also are gold plated needles better then the regular ones? I've also heard that platinum is the best, but haven't found any of those yet.

Thank you for your time

A size 24 Tapestry will be nice for you on your 14-ct.

Gold is nice, but it wears off, even with John James needles from England. This is a good company & many stores carry the brand.

I have been stitching for over 30 years and only use sharp pointed embroidery needles. If you are doing your stitching on Aida they are perfect for doing 1/2 & 1/4 stiches on that fabric. To me tapestry needles are too large. You will find some you like. Everyone has their own preferences.

I love John James needles, also Anchor. You'll develop a feel for the correct size. I lean towards smaller needles but can't tell you why. They just feel right.

I use the tapestry needles, b'c I am always poking myself. It hurts enough with the tapestry needle, I would really hurt myself with a sewing needle. I'm such a clutz! LOL
