I need help with this.
I bought a set of wooden coasters (Herrschners) to do these teapots on. They are 3x3 coaster (inside dimensions) and these teapots (according to ECS) is about 59 x 73 stitches.

How can I make them fit onto 3" x 3"? I tried 14 to 18 count fabric, just barely too big. Help.

I don't think you can, j. Don't waste your time on coasters, I tried that once and somehow liquid leaked into them and they were ruined. Maybe these are constructed differently.

I made a comment to my husband when we were still in Army about my fatigues not looking right and he responded with "That's what happens when you try to fit an 8 into a 3". I guess he meant that I was too big, he never really clarified because I had gotten angry. Your coaster problem reminded me of that. LOL

Good luck. jl, syagel or Miss Kitty will have an answer for you.

I agree with Texas Stitcher. I wouldn't even try to put them in coasters. If they get wet your work is all ruined. I would make them as individual teapot Christmas ornaments for the tree. They would look really neat on a tree.

Great ideas and thanks for the heads up. I will send back the coasters. They were $40 (with shipping). I can just use that money on patterns - :) ......maybe the Garden of Delight?????? Hmmmm!

Yes, j, excellent idea to use the 40 bucks for more patterns! Thanks, syagel, how many miles have you put on your new car already?

I had a really cute pattern once, when I was heavily into tea drinking, it was similar to yours. Wish I still had it. It had teacups on it and tins with the names of various tea varieties. So what I'm trying to say here is if you don't want to make individual ones you could stitch all six onto one piece of fabric. It would look nice over a kitchen table or wherever you enjoy a beverage.

Just put this pattern on my wish list. Talked myself into making these as ornaments for 2015 Christmas. not enough time this year with all my other projects.

Put 70 miles on new car yesterday and it rode real nice.

I, too, have had this on my wish list for a while and am going to get it. I thought about using the tea pots individually for birthday cards for my high school girlfriends who live 600 miles away. When the five of us were in high school and two years at the community college together before I moved away, we'd get together on Friday and Saturday nights to play cards or board games and enjoy tea. One of my girlfriend's mom was of English/Cornish heritage, so we got the English tea served with scones since we always hung out at her house. Mrs. B was my second mother and often made authentic Cornish pasties for us. When I go back home to visit now, the four of us get together again for tea. So that is why I thought of this as birthday cards for them. Last year they all got cross stitched tea cups from me. And whenever I feel homesick, I make Mrs. B's scones or pasties. Thank you for putting up with my memories.

I think the only way you could fit them is to do them on a 25 count even weave...over 1. They would come out around 2.5" x 2.75". I think they'd make great coasters!! I say go for it !! If they get spilled on, you can always do another one ;)

Over one Miss Kitty??? That's tiny. She no longer likes to stitch on 32 ct. over two.

Adele, good idea about the Christmas cards. I have patterns and the cards w/envelopes all ready to go for about 15 years now and have not made one. I'll have to seal the envelopes with tape because the glue is no longer good by now, I'm sure. I think they look so classy and show that one cares. Maybe I'll do a couple for my best friends this year. Shouldn't take more than a couple of evenings. I'm not referring to the teapots.
Love those memories you were telling us about. I was into tea and scones about 20 years ago. DH was overseas and I had free time on weekends. Such a lovely way to entertain friends.

Have a glue gun? add a line of hot glue to joint of glass & wood on coasters. Seals nicely. Keep it thin.

Ps: most useful coasters are the sandstone ones. Everything else leaks, sweats, or slide or sticks to the glass. The only other type I've had luck with are crocheted & fit the glass like a sock.

Pss: there is a 20-ct Aida & a 22-ct hardanger. See fabric pages.
